New VanDread Vid....with Billy Idol

Post by papa_51_productions » Sun Nov 28, 2004 9:17 pm

Just finished uploading my latest video. Set to VanDread, it's an Action/Character profile vid (of Hibiki Tokai). The song "Rebel Yell" was supplied by Billy Idol. Yes, I realize I tend to do 80's music....comes from being in my thirties! LOL!

Anyhow the vid is worth the download IMO. Let me know what you think! It can be found at:

I downloaded because, well, I'm an 80s fiend. :p

I liked it well enough even though I've never seen Vandread and don't care for mecha anime - the song worked well for that kind of random-cool-shit-blowing-up video. High energy.

The one thing that bugged me, though, were the cheesy transitions, the sliding in from the corners, the shatter-into-squares one, and the V-shaped one about 3/4 of the way in. augh. Too many of those, IMO. If you have really flashy source like this, somehow it seems even worse to have cheesy transitions. I think the flat edges and whatnot are distracting compared to the CG. The parts that relied on less obtrusive editing worked much better.

But anyway. You made a non-fan of mecha watch a Vandread video, nice job! And it wasn't bad at all! Only that one thing annoyed me, otherwise s'cool. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words all!

Sarah, thanks for the advice. Since I still have the source footage on my hardrive, I'm planning on a couple more Vandread videos in the coming weeks. The one I'm working on right now is set to Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone". Not an 80's song (I'm a huge '80s music fan myself) but still quite rockin'!

Thanks again all!
