Total Eclipse of the Heart

Post by Valanne » Sat Jan 29, 2005 12:17 pm

Anime: X (TV), Tokyo Babylon, X (OVA)
Song: Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler

*WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS*

As soon as I heard this song, I knew I had to do a Subaru x Seishirou video! It's a very beautiful, sad song, and it's really perfect for their story! I decided to put Seishirou's death as the main theme, and around it Subaru's memories flow. As always, I ahve to say that I'm always talking about what happens in the manga, expecially Tokyo Babylon. If you haven't read it, some parts will be difficult to understand! Btw, if you haven't read it, you really should, because it's wonderful! ^_^
Also remember what a Kekkai truly means: "With my hands I want to protect the one I love".

very nice reflection video
once again, i am a fan of the use of Tokyo Babylon footage incorporated with X footage, but i guess it's only natural for this type of video.. so i should stop being so impressed, but i won't :P

fairly good use of footage

though i had a problem with the timing from 2:37 - 3:06 (when Subaru pulls out the card and aftewards is fine again)
what i didn't like is how u used the thunder in the background, it wasn't a bad start to have that initial strike go with the cymbal, but right after that cymbal/lightning bolt scene, there was a lightning sound that i think would have worked better, in fact, i disagreed with how pretty much every lightning bolt sound effect was synced, but since i didn't have a problem with the video overall, i guess this specific scene just came down to how you personally wanted to make it and i'm sure ur happy with how it came out
Spoilers wrote:1:49 was good with the action climaxing to subaru loosing his eye and dropping his shield
i give this video a 3 because it had a good theme going through it and the sync is decent enough overall, just wish it had better video quality and that the sync was ... i guess more to my tastes... and also wish the song had a stronger correlation, this one isn't great, but it works enough and is one of the better vids with this song i've seen
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

that's a beautiful vid :D i havent heard that version of the song in some time. it's hard to impress me w/ an amv that doesnt have all that photoshop work that the top few seem to all have (needless to say, i hate my own), but yours really got to me. it's good to be reminded that art can be simpler and still be just as good (if not better in some cases).
i dont have a signature yet =(

not bad not bad....

I agree with Diao Kagi, I love this song, but the video didn't always match up to how dramatic/emotinal the song is in some parts. I liked some parts better than others. A few scenes seemed out of place when considering the lyrics (mostly when you suddenly showed actiony scenes). Keep in mind I have not seen X yet.

The sycnch was pretty descent, although I would have synched diferently, but then each editor has their own style. but the main thing, Video qualtiy, would be more enjoyable still if the video quality was better.

All in all, not a bad job, I can tell thought and effort went into it. Keep it up.
