Introduction
* * * * * * *
It has been a long while since I've created a video, and my last one encouraged me on not quitting. As time went by, I looked onto other videos, and saw the sudden progress everyone was doing. Focusing a lot of effects and such, bringing AMVs to a whole new level.
Needless to say, pretty much like any other AMV editor/artist, I didn't want to fall behind, so I tried my first at such effects and this is the result. Personally I'm quit glad with how it turned out, even though for some it might look childish and probably even not making any sense at all, but I promise to all the potential spectators that I tried my best to bring out both feel of the Anime (Naruto) and the Song from Sum 41 (The Hell Song)

Why and What
* * * * * * *
Naruto is probably the most popular anime at the moment, and unfortunatly the video I had produced about it wasn't very well taken by the audience. I must admit, it wasn't my best, so I wanted to give Naruto another shot.
The song was suggested to be my a great friend of mine, who needless to say is a very big Sum 41 fan. Listening to it ovr and over I tried to picture a fast video which managed to give feeling to the spectators, the same feeling we get during an intence fight while watching Naruto
* * * * * * *
Result ? ? ? ?
* * * * * * *
This is up to you to judge, even though one might want to keep in mind that I have NO idea how to use Adobe After Effects, so what you see before you is all a mixture of Photoshop and Premiere. Hope you all enjoy and please, for the sake of improvement, do leave a comment ^.^
Thanks for the bottom of my heart

The editing was solid and quite a bit of the effects were nice but a LOT of them felt forced to me. Some of the blatant masking of characters just standing or walking over scenes felt like "look what I can do" and distracted instead of contributed to the effect.
It also felt like I was watching Toushi all over again.

I liked it, it had some really well done synch and alot of constance in it. I second Beowulf on the effects, some fitted, some didn't (meaning the video would propably be better without some). It seems like you really wanted to try different things out (not just to impress by all means).
From my experience this really helps if you figure out after some time what you liked and didn't like so you can improve on that
Another thing was somehow the combination, the song sounds quite a bit more fun as the video is (which looks pretty serious). More fun content would've been nice and on top of it more original. I don't know how often I've seen all those scenes already without even seeing the show *yawns*.
But, great to see you on track again!

That was pretty awesome editing job there. I agree on the above comments that some of the effects didn;t fit, while others did. Its good that your trying diferent things out though. Masking was well done. Visual quality is a bit low for my taste though.
Its an overall very upbeat and action packed AMV, However, its been done before. Many times. Its not realy high on the originality scale. It does kinda remind me of Toushi, though using more serious scenes. Still I'll be keeping this one.
In short, Awesome editing, Great job, Not very original, but worth a look everyone.

I can't even tell you how much you've inspired me. And since I don't have After Effects either, but DO have Premeire and Photoshop.. well, knowing I can do -that- as well.. just warms my heart.Muyo_Ryu wrote:...keep in mind that I have NO idea how to use Adobe After Effects, so what you see before you is all a mixture of Photoshop and Premiere.

I fully understand what you mean by forced effects. In fact I do think so muyself, yet what I wanted to do in this video, rather then something plain like a few of my others, was to try and go beyond my usual limits when it came down to effects and layers.Beowulf wrote:The editing was solid and quite a bit of the effects were nice but a LOT of them felt forced to me. About Toushi, I love that video, along with others on a-m-v.org such as Naruto's World and Phenomenon. In fact I think all 3 of them both taught me a lot, and also influenced the way I dealt with this video, so I'll that that as a compliment in a way, even though I -do- know that originality is an important factor in AMV editting.Beowulf wrote:It also felt like I was watching Toushi all over again.
Excelent idea ... thanks ... come to think of it ... I haven't done any funny videos since Girls Got Attitude, and the video is actually anchient now ... hmm hmm *takes notes*JCD wrote: Another thing was somehow the combination, the song sounds quite a bit more fun as the video is (which looks pretty serious). I -so- understand what you mean there. Naruto is -THE- overused anime, and even thought there are currently 133 episodes, there still isn't enough for someone to make a video with totally brand new scenes.JCD wrote:I don't know how often I've seen all those scenes already without even seeing the show *yawns*.
Thanks ^o^ Enter summer, enter the new Muyo Ryu Video COllection for 2005 heheJCD wrote:But, great to see you on track again!
I totally agree there. I officially exported the video every time I made an effect due to the fact that my PC was crumbling at some point, and didn't want to risk loosing the work. I officially exported the video around 41 times, and I have screenshots to proove it, and the quality got lost at one point cause of a wrong export *sigh* I'll do my best in the next one, not to fumble on that again though. Thanks for pointing it out.Bakadeshi wrote:Visual quality is a bit low for my taste though.
Needless to say, I am very honoured to hear those last 6 words, =^.^= and as I previous said, I understand how unoriginal the whole video is, yet from what I have planned for my next videos, that might changeBakadeshi wrote:Its an overall very upbeat and action packed AMV, However, its been done before. Thanks for the comment
Hehe, why should you be yelled at, all you said was true. It's pretty official, the effects just took over and possessed the video as some point hehe. thanks for the comment though.TeclmmlEd wrote:Decent editing.....decent quality (PIXELS EVERYWHERE O_O).....and whorish effects! With a little imagination and drive, theres a whole lot you can do with just photoshop and Premeire. I don't ever use After effects either. Given, AE does make some of it easier (at least so I have been told).

Well I saw this two nights ago, and just now I've had time to post my thoughts on it.
Overall, I liked the look the video presented, but it lacked real beat synch. I didn't like how Lee fighting Kimimaro was thrown into the beginning at random, but overall you had a lot of confluence with your lyrics.
The effects are good, in my opinion, but I would stay away from the box effects (like at 02:05).
The quality is alright... but at times the old film effect coloring clips looked very bad. I'd recommend using a bit of filtering, too. Just I'd also stay away from mixing the widescreen and the fullscreen clips since they tend to look awkward.
My least favorite part is the end. This was because nothing really fit the beats but a few key words. Although now the reason is that from 02:48 every clip in the background is ripped from Tousi. You start at the shot of the 3rd's demon jutsu, and then at arond 02:54 start from when Lee fights the Sound people in the beginning (you can even see the cropped bars at the top and bottom that Jimmy did). And from thereafter, a lot of the clips seem to be in the same editing, but just sped up. Really, Muyo, I'd have hoped you made it all yourself.
However, with it's bad points aside, I enjoy watching it a lot.
