Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

for a first video that wasn;t bad. Your at a disadvantage with me though, because THIS video by Sierra Lorna is my all time favorite FF video and also uses this song ;p (which is also a good example of what we mean by the pacing in this kind of song, since she handled that part well) I agree with the posts above that the pacing needed to be faster to match the song, more hits on more of the beats and such, the video just didn't seem to have as much of the energy in it that the song has. You had good scene selections though.

Also when I posted the links above about the filtering using AVIsynth, I had forgotten that this was ff- footage were talking about. As madbunny said you have to be more carefull with the settings provided with 3d footage. Deen is probably going to be your most helpfull one, but you probably want to use "c3d" instead of "a3d" as the method of smoothing, as its better for gradients. (plenty of that in 3d) also don't crank the settings up too high, or you'll loose alot of detail. its something you have to playa round with till you get what you like.

Woah... I was downloading that same video right as I read this. Wierd.

Thanks for all the great advice and links. You guys are awesome! I can totally see where I went wrong with the pacing/flow now. The thing is I didn't put as much time and preparation into it as I should have and so it doesn't have much of an integrated "story" that also cooperates with the music. :: bows head in shame ::

Ok my next project is to make this video into the greatest AMV ever in existence!!!

Ok maybe I'll just aim for better than the original. :P

Note: everyone should read madbunny's gude to action videos. It's very good (especially if you're a newbie), if I may say so myself. :)

Thanks for the compliments on the guide! I sort of found myself trying to explain that in a lot of my reviews, probably at least 30-40 of them, so I posted that instead.

I've posted standard sized op for your video, if you have any questions, comments or complaints you can either PM me, reply here or in the op.
