• Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
 • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
 • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
 • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I didn't find the video too bad and it was kind of enjoyable to a certain extent.

You come off as someone who has some sort of technical/effects knowledge but everything was overdone. It's like you're adding alot of stuff to your car but you keep adding in all of the unnecessary things.

The text should not have been in comics sans ms. I don't think anybody even takes that font seriously anymore.

One problem with alot of amvs today is that editors add in tons of effects and beat sync for the sake of sync which detracts from the flow of the video. This video had that problem.

But to each his/her own. If you think your video is the shit, then that's fine. Not everyone will agree however. :?

Also i'm not really sure what you meant by saying that this is exactly like any other DBZ amv, only with better effects. Thats like saying that the most expensive car you can by today is exactly the same as the cheapest one you could buy 20 years ago, only with better features, it makes no sense.[/quote]

I didn't say it had better effects I said it had flashes and words added. So it was like buying an old car with a horrible paint job.
My newest video: Semper Fi

Thanks for a constructive critisism, this is what I was looking for when I made this post, not the childish remarks I got earlier (which is why I reacted the way I did -which I appologise for)

Thanks you for the comment as well, although I have to say that the japanese version of DBZ (to me) was rubbish. If you think that the English version (Done by ocean) was rubbish I would also agree. What I don't agree on is if you were reffering to the funimation version, they did and amazing job with it, so much so in fact that they took an anime that no-one outside of Japan had ever heard of, and turned it into the most popular anime in the world.

Uhh...

DragonBall had been a worldwide phenomenon for years before FUNimation actually did anything with it in the US. To put it in perspective, by the time FUNimation actually did anything with the property, it was finishing its decade-long run in Japan (discounting GT, which ran from '95 to '97). It had been amazingly successful in Europe and Southern America (not to mention, obviously, general Asia) for quite some time...

Without turning your announcement thread into a general DB discussion, I find it pretty funny that you've got the complete opposite perspective on the show than the other people in this thread. Personally, I find FUNimation's production to be an absolute joke. They did a fantastic job selling it to kids up until about 2001, but then... poof... away went the Poke-money. There's a reason why it remains popular in other countries long after it's ended, though... and that's because they actually treated the show properly.

Bringing it back on topic, you really need to continue taking a step back and realizing exactly what it is you're saying and how you're saying it. It looks completely childish to make any sort of claim and then wah-wah-wah when someone says they don't like it. Forgetting about yourself for a second, how do you think that appears to the general public who otherwise may have wanted to check out your video? You've already acknowledged this, so that's a great start...

*laughs* It's going to be challanging for me to consider any merit in your opinions here on in.

Heh, no personal attack. I don't take things to heart (cmon this is teh interwebs!) :P
I'm just analysing your taste in anime (which I really shouldn't do but preferences is always an opinionated struggle among us)

And the amv wasn't bad, it was made with some skill and I aknowledge it. I was just proposing my own views on the subject of americanized dbz with one liners that would make the original japanese creators cry in anger.

I thought I would try to explain a couple of things about the vid (since no-one is interpreting it the way I thought they would)

When I watched the vid it was in Chinese/ Japanese (At the same time) which I thought was pretty funny. So I didn't really know what anyone was saying. I thought that i'd make up my own story in keeping with the dub. i.e. a comedy type story. When I did watch it in English I didn't think it was all that good.

So when I made this amv, I decided to retell the story the way had interpreted it the firt time round. To do this just by normal editing would have been impossible, hence the captions. The reason I made them stand out soo much was that so that they would stand out to emphasise the humour, but I obviously failled miserably with that since no-one got it.

In summary this was not supposed to be some kind of formal visual report on the amv that I planned to show to world leaders, it was just supposed to be a funny re-telling of the funny story I made up in my head.

I tried to explain this in my description, but I must not have done it properly. Also I didn't list it under comedy because the two or three people that I did show it to before uploading it said that it was a more serious vid (which was a surpise to me) so I listed it under serious, action etc.

Anyway hope this makes things a little clearer for everyone.
