- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

since I can't edit my own posts... I'm forced to ask an "after thought" question seperately... deal with it...
I'm currious about what "Orphan Frames"? Did I miss something when I overlayed my video clips? As for WMV, I was having encoder issues... just found it easier to use WMV.
and when you say "Your timing could use some work, too. Use intermediate exports. "
are you speaking of Audio/video timing, audio/audio? And as a n00b, "intermediate exports"?
I'm trying to look at all this as "constructive", and how can I use this to possibly make it better...

Here is your critism. Alright your video was incredible long. your not supposed to upload videos that are larger than 50mb with out permission. The dudes mouth was moving to much. It was kinda like lip sync, but it was off time. Now I'm not tryin to bash you or anything cause my first video was not that great either. Overall i would give your vid probably a 4/10Southcross wrote::rolleyes: ok.. so... how about a little "constructive" criticism. Just calling it below average means nothing on a first project.amvwizard wrote:<<<My penguin thinks that your video was below average....

Actually the terms of use say 100M...
as for the "lip synch", it actaully started out as coincidental. I did try and re-align the clip to match the lyrics, but the pre-rendering kept changing where the video and audio aligned at... so I just reverted everything back to where it started at.
no, thank you for the input... even 4/10, with ideas for improvement are better than just saying "your video was below average"
I've gone over the entire sequnce in my head from the "opening" with the mother's answering machine message... then into the transition through the vocals... I cant conceive how I could do it any other way (atleast in my current frame of mind)... the video seems right atleast until the point where he saves her life from falling off the cliff... then after that it became a tossup between letting the song end and finishing the theme I was trying to keep with. I tried for a re-mix effect (some areas were really good IMO, others I wish I was better at audio editing), but I admit its kinda hard to remix a song for an additional 4 minutes![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

An orphan frame is a frame that is completely out of place. It ususally happens at a cut. To illustrate:Southcross wrote:I'm currious about what "Orphan Frames"? Did I miss something when I overlayed my video clips? As for WMV, I was having encoder issues... just found it easier to use WMV.
You want to go from clip A to clip B.
...AAAAAABBBBBBB...
An orphan frame will look like this:
...AAAAAACBBBBBBB...
Orphan frames tend to stand out because a single frame flash of anything is rather jarring. They're very distracting, annoying, and generally the mark of insufficient beta testing and lack of experience.
Both, really. By "intermediate", I mean export the entire thing before you're finished into a watchable form. That lets you get around previewing issues with the editor.Southcross wrote:and when you say "Your timing could use some work, too. Use intermediate exports. "

thank you... all very good information.
I did MANY pre-exports.... just currious what frames you may have "seen" that I missed... there were a few areas, specifically "terror" flashes that are really brief... I either tried to cover them up, or extend them. I wonder if those are what you meant? Not to be a pain, but do you happend to remember what was going on at the moment (I could ask for specific time stamps
)? I went through about 20 exports/revisions (from ver .1 through 1.9) until I stepped back from version 2.0 and thought it was good enough for a first project.
Actually, I think I see the frame your talking about... there was only one specific "orphan frame" correct? The scene where he has all those flashbacks? I was trying to cover up a "flashback" of one of the monsters mouths... it looked like a Vagina![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
Maybe a bad transition or two? The scene where the young girl was snatched up? that was played at only 66% frame speed, and it seemed to miss-frame the beginning and ending animations of the clip.
