  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

*feels like one of those people who post 6 times in the first 10 minutes because no one has posted yet*

Why is it that no one's made any comments on this? Is it because I've not gotten your attention yet? Or is it because my name's not known around here? Does the video suck? I picked some source footage that you don't like? I picked a trailer that you don't like? Did I just post this at the wrong time?

I'm willing to accept anything that'll help me improve my editing.

Actually, most people look for either an editor that they know and trust, or they see a title that is attractive. I'll download this tomorrow and take a gander at it. Welcome to the Org!

I'm one of several resident Seikai fans, so you've caught my attention. Brace for impact.

Your lip-synch is awkward, at best. It doesn't match particularly, and just looks bad. Try using three frames instead of two: closed, partially open, and open. Don't be afraid to go frame-by-frame. It's the only way it'll come out halfway decent.

00:24 to 00:27 work nicely, building the suspense a little.

You miffed the "FIVE!", however. Nothing done with it at all.

Good through 00:40. I understand that the ship is preparing for combat.

From there, the crows noises and such in the background are a little disconcerting, since I don't see anything matched to them at all.

00:53. I think you should have timed the engines firing to the appropriate noise, instead of several seconds before.

Wait, what? Ground combat? WTF did that come from?

From there, it's better. Your timing is, by and far, rock solid and technically well-executed.

Just one minor problem: I have no farking clue what's going on, and I can't even tell enough to be intrigued. Are you purposely murky? Is the trailer just that bad to begin with?

I was afraid that the lip-sync was bad. Especially at the beginning. I'll have to try that frame-by-frame idea next time.

0.o I never noticed that before!

This was one of those awkward scenes. I was hoping to find a bunch of people that looked like they were having fun. Unfortunately, I failed there, and decided to go with the meteor show instead.

This was another one of those awkwards scenes. In the original trailer, they got around it by fading to black, and inserting some text into it.

Good question. This is why I should have done up an outline or something for this. That would've helped me avoid having random scenes show up.

^^ Glad to hear this.

I'd love to say that I was purposely murky, because that would mean that I'd planned it. But that's not the case. It's probably just from poor planning, and a month long gap between editing scenes.

1) Lip synch is off, as already said. Better to avoid lip synching really wordy and fast phrases like the first one about Poseidon. Mostly it's just boring to watch someone's face mouth a paragraph.
2) I didn't think it was murky at all, it's just tension building up to an epic battle, run or you're going to die...you know, typical action movie trailer. The audio for the trailer isn't really more specific than that IMO. You could go anywhere action-y with it.
3) That said, the ending left me hanging. Not the good kind of hanging, where I'm like "dang, I want to see that movie!" but like "dang, that trailer ended abruptly..."

Overall: Looked cool but not sure what the main point/focus was.
