My first Video - Animal Inside Ichigo (Bleach)

Post by Rhodan » Tue Oct 17, 2006 2:09 am

Hey guys,

This is my first completed video. the file size is a little on the large size because for some reason my virtualdubmod isnt compressing it any further.

The desciption says pretty much it all i can think of, also, there are a couple of subtitled parts that although I removed, still seem to appear somehow

Anyway, any constructive critisicm is welcome.

iamfanboy should take a cue from you. You are a good newb. You avoid easy mistakes and are clearly trying and honestly ask for feedback. You're off to a fantastic start.

Now lets get into the nitty gritty, and I'll be sure to post this on your comment section too.

You did well in trying to get rid of subtitles. You did miss a few, but you are aware of that. Some parts have rather good sync. Others, not so much.

Some points, I feel like the clips ignore the song. The song is saying something profound or is cooking up, but the video doesn't follow. You should pay closer to that sense of dynamics.

Also, your video quality could use some improvement. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems very grainy. Try a few experiments when compressing the files. You may find something that looks better.

Also, I want to talk about your theme. Your theme wants to be Serious/Character Profile, but it comes off as an Action video. I know you wanted to keep it simple for your first video, but I felt like it ended up simpler than you wanted it to be. It felt repetative and didn't clearly display Ichigo's emotions as much as I would have liked.

Really, you should be proud. You have restored my faith in newbs and have set a good example for people like iamfanboy.

Rock, rock on!

wow nice job for a firstI agree that dude iamfanboy could learn somthing from you. The amv could have been better with some clip reajusting sence some were just in there and I felt could have been chosen also, you had subtitles. You should at least try to crop them off when you are done. Also when you render from vegas make sure to choose progressive scan it will get ride of the interlacing I noticed you had. And compressing your audio will make the file much smaller wich save bandwith.

Actually I have a question about that too, may as well put it here.

I heard it mentioned before and read the guide for compressing audio but as far as I can tell (and maybe im just stupid  ) that only works for the songs, which were already an Mp3 file as it was.

Also with the subtitles, playing it back in vegas after it was finished all the subtitles were removed through cropping of the video, however as I mentioned before somewhere along the line of compressing it somehow added it back in for a couple of parts while most of the subtitles remain cropped, no idea why it did that and I may go back and fix it up soon.

Thanks for the comments/suggestions everyone :D

Mmm-hmm, your movie is much better than mine. *nodnod* Even though I don't care about three days grace, the song was well-chosen, the clips nice, and I'VE never complained about subtitles in videos. I thought it was all right for a nice balance between character and action video, keeping up with Ichigo's character while still keeping the action going. Dunno if that's what you were shooting for, but I at least enjoyed it.

...but yours won't be better for long. Even now, I delve deep in to the tutorials that I never knew existed when I made my video, and am already mentally cutting the video to make it far better than I thought it would be last week.

It's a challenge! Oosha! Doshita doshita! *dan taunts you* I never let anyone stay ahead of me for long!

Though I've only seen up to episode 12 of Bleach! Spoilers, much?

Eh, who really cares! Nice job! Any hints on what your next is going to be?

well originaly people try to use .wav files when editing in the first place. if you mess with the audio in any way you will need to export the audio from vegas as just a .wav the compress it to mp3 then when you go to compress open up the stream list and disable the original audio and enter your new compressed audio that will get the file size smaller

and with the subtitle thing I dont know why it would do that im guessing mabey it was some slight lag but next time if that happens you should export it to .wmv watch it to make sure everything is all good and find what you need to fix also .wmv is a good file type for betaing sence it is small and transfers faster then an avi file
