"Kyuusaisha"

Post by pyrolord » Mon Jan 01, 2007 6:29 pm

This is my latest video. I have worked my butt off now for close to three months to finish this video.

The word Kyuusaisha is the japanese word for "Savior".

I used the song "Savior" by Skillet and i set it to the show "Bleach".

I used Ulead Video Studio 9 to make the video, and that program is a serious pain in the neck.

I would appreciate any input you have.

Rightio, let me start of with the bad.The quality could have better for one, the audio seemed to clip and some of the scenes dragged on (felt like i was watching straight from the episodes)

Now the good. The song fitted really well and the sync was good. Most of the scene choices were good(even though some did drag on) Nice, simplistic effects were rather good.

So all in all it was worth the watch.

Thank you for your input. Some dick left a really nasty slam in the comments section and i was starting to think that he might represent the general concensus of the video.

The video quality is what disappointed me considering the fact that the quality was so much better before i compressed the video.

The original file was only 188 MB, but my virtual dub won't work with MPEG-2 files.

So i made an AVI file, it was 1.07 GB. Virtual dub would work with this file however, so i ran it through using the de-interlace filter. I tried the other filters as well for S&G.

When everything was all said and done, that was the best i could get it. Of course if I am doing something wrongthen i will try to fix it and get a better quality video up.

Now I am rambling, Thank you for watching the video. 8-)

You didn't compress your audio, that's taking up most of your
space (and bits which would be much better spent on the
video stream).

As for the amv, it's clear you put a lot of effort into it, but
it seems to me that you need to focus that effort a bit better.
Under the profile you place your amv in six categories,
and on one hand it feels like you wanted to exercise your
editing skills and effects work while on the other attempting
to make something the viewer will find meaningful ("about
temptation and having the strength to fight it"). Making
a successful action/drama amv is extremely hard, IMO,
and it's rare to see it done successfully (tip of the hat to
Sierra Lorna in this regard). For us lesser editors I think
it's better to skimp at first on the effects and quick-paced
editing and just concentrate on making a drama such that
the scenes flow naturally from one to the next, avoiding
making them too long (so that they drag) or too short (so
that they just flicker by). Then, after that is done,
embellish it (which, it turns out, is mostly unnecessary).

render your video lossless (lagarith or huffyuv codec) or uncompressed avi from your video editor

then follow this guide for video compression

AND then follow this guide for audio comression

any questions you might have can always be found here

note: i have not watched your video... if youre having compression problems those guides should effectively help

Post by pyrolord » Mon Jan 08, 2007 12:58 am

Sierra Lorna and Silver Moon and Dr. Raven all suffered through the beta for me. You thank them for the fact that the isn't as bad as it could have been.
