interesting combination 8-) a little to Korean for my taste ... 5/5

Video - nice, clean 8-)

Audio - the codec failed in a few spots, making it sound like an LP was being played with a few scratches -- which did not distract from AMV 8-)

5/5

note to other AMV's, This is what an AMV should look like ^_~

Oh it was so nice.
One point what was not so good, was the repeading of some scenes. But i dont know how much scenes you had for the video...
Overall really good
4/5

Wow, I was definitely not expecting this kind of response...thanks everybody for your kind words!! Now for direct responses xD
jasper-isis wrote:Most excellent job on this one! Love the mood, the flow, and the thoughtful use/placement of fading (seriously, it takes skill ). Also love how you really paid attention to the music! It's great considering that this is only your second solo project.

Woooot now I can't wait for our editingdate. Dinnar, mewvie (?), then editing all night long!
First off, thanks for letting me constantly bug you about everything (minute details to encodes and everything in between), seriously you've been such a life saver. It's such a pretty song (eh, I guess most Korean ballads are), so I'm glad that the fades were enough to bring out the music as well. I can't wait until our editing date! Woowoo~ xD
Bakadeshi wrote:As I said, its a pretty vid, and I really liked the editing. The way you synced it and your scene selections made the mood seemed perfect for the song even if I can't understand what the song is actually saying ;p I can't really comment on the story and lyric sync till I get a translation of the song tho ;p Just that I think I get the general gyst of it just from knowing the anime already, and the text at the beginning.
Haha I was actually kind of surprised (and a little scared) when jasper just threw it out there before I released it. But thanks so much for your comments, even in the Otakon finalist thread. I didn't really expect to make finals, but everyone can hope right? :) I was trying to make the story seem as standalone as possible, only to be accompanied by the music and enhanced by the lyrics. I know many people are probably not as familiar with K-pop as compared to J-pop, so I tried to edit as independently (but still taking some lyrical cues) from the song as possible.
Orwell wrote:Also, why not just post the lyrics in the video profile? Or if you'd prefer not to, I'd be interested in a PM of them.
And I think I will! I wasn't expecting this many people to be interested in them, but I'll update the vid info as soon as I can.
Otohiko wrote:I absolutely loved the compositional, rather than technical, focus of the video. Sure the scene choices were restricted, but you set them up in a really logical set of patterns that always worked. I always said good visual structure is key, and this video proves the point. Lots of good key visuals/themes that build up over the whole video. And the editing was really good, where I think some of the internal sync really helped with the execution.

I rather liked the song in the context of the video, actually. Can't see any complaint there as it honestly does a lot of work in setting up the mood here. It made Korean sound rather prettier than I remember hearing it before Was there lyric sync or did you treat it more as an instrumental?

As far as I can tell, also a very side-story oriented video which is always nice to see (I guess the limited scene selection gives it away, but in this case that's a very good thing). I can't comment much on series context or anything, but I don't think anything here confused me. All quite plausible.
One thing that I've always thought about sources like Air is how much I'd hate to mar the beauty of the footage itself with my mediocre effects (I still need lots of practice T_T). I'm really glad that the scene placement and "visual cues" worked, and worked well with the music. And yes, I'm a sucker for side-stories...maybe that's how I get myself into editing messes like this.
Kionon wrote: The encode could have been better, but I was really impressed that you were able to do all of this with the limited footage you said you had.

I require more Air post-haste.
Limited footage is always a challenge, but for some reason, I always feel most pleased after completing vids like this. As much as I like the Kanna/Ryuya story, though, I think I'm burnt out of Air for now...^^;

Which part were you talking about? I don't really recall repeating anything besides the still frames/zooms (starting 1:17), but then again I can see how that might've been a weak point. I'm glad you enjoyed it though :)

DaCoolGohan, Tsukin, Janzki, Reigna, post-it: thanks for watching and letting me know your thoughts! :)

Wow...that was a lot. I'll have the translated lyrics up soon!

I like this video a lot, it reminds me of Jasper's Frost and Flames because it focuses on a story not normally potrayed in videos. I haven't ever had any interest in watching Air, nor had I had anything but faint interest in Kaleido Star, but both videos make me want to watch their respective animes. Good job!
