Re: ~ Fireflies ~ a huge anime mashup!
I really havent decided what Im going to do with this video yet.. I already got rid of nearly all of the video files and the sony vegas files that I had (all which took up about 50gigs of my hdd space).. so basically if I wanted to edit this video again Id have to get the respective clips again
Not that much of a big deal.. but then the transitions I used throughout its going to be hard to 're-do' a lot of the clips
I already worked on this AMV on and off for 6 months.. it ABSOLUTELY PAINS ME to think I have to keep working on it even a minute longer LOL
Im desperately trying to compress this to where it won't be over 100mb and it won't lose too much quality
This stuff can get so complicated! I love the editing aspect of AMVs, but when it comes to compressors and codecs Im just a big dummy o.O Im reading up on some tutorials though

If you've lost all the clips, I'd suggest working on something else and coming back and "remastering" this video later once you've got the hang of video quality better. Plus, I'd love to see more work out of you. _awesome_

x2, especially since you already encoded the video and from what you wrote it seems that you ar trying to make a lossless of your already "final" encode - that won't improve the quality, rather drop it even further, so don't even bother - you'll just waste your time.Code wrote:If you've lost all the clips, I'd suggest working on something else and coming back and "remastering" this video later once you've got the hang of video quality better. You should render into Lagarith from Vegas and then encode using ZarxGUI, it's actually fairly easy. If you encoded it already and ditched the project files (which is a huge mistake - you should always backup your Vegas project files, they're small) just keep it for future when you feel like it.

Re: ~ Fireflies ~ a huge anime mashup!
I feel like the reason I've come to hate these multi-anime mashup videos is because the editors think that since all they're really doing is putting together a bunch of pretty scenes from different anime that occasionally match up with the lyrics, they can get away with not doing any actual editing and hope that the viewer is just captivated by all the dramatic scenery and pretty colors. I felt like this video had no flow or relation at all to the music, and the inclusion of the actual music video for the song made no sense to me. It was just a bunch of random scenes that didn't take the music's pacing into account at all, with no real concept or purpose behind it to make up for the lack of editing.
Sorry man, did not enjoy this video one bit.

Lack of editing? I think not. Perhaps TOO much editing and tweaking but certainly not a lack of itCrackTheSky wrote:they can get away with not doing any actual editing and hope that the viewer is just captivated by all the dramatic scenery and pretty colors. The random scenes.. yeah I can see that. I somewhat agree that I may have 'slapped' a few clips here and there and some look out of place. But there was a purpose to a lot of the clips also hmm
Im sorry you didnt like it, but I did put a LOT of effort into it if it means anything..
Hell, I should get 1 point just for showing up lol

alright let's see this sucker...
EDIT: YAYY you got your 5 stars ^_^ still had a couple quality issues but i think that had more to do with source footage than compression. looks much better either way did you get my pm btw?

Good:
1) The song
2) The use of the music video
3) Lyric awareness
Bad:
1)Quality/AR
2) Timing - in some places this was really good, but in others it was just an overload of flashes, weird transitions and rapidly changing scenes.
Overall, this was good.

Yes Riderz I got your pm Im not sure what Im going to do just yet with it. Perhaps I could clean it up a bit and learn some Avisynth scripting and try to make the best of the footage I already have.. but obviously I would still have to put it back into Vegas and do some 'readjustments' to the AR in some areas
Which will mean that (knowing myself) I would basically have to re-do over 1/4 of the video to get it up to par. And that goes against my original intention on FINISHING IT and being done with it lol
So if I don't enter it into that particular contest I might add it to another later when I do some revisions
But Im excited to be able to work on another project and maybe some MEPs =D
