Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Where do you always come up with this stuff? I was beginning to think that everything that could be done with AMV's has been done, until I saw this. I haven't seen something this unique in years. I don't know what it is with you, you're like an AMV genius. All I can say is keep it up. :)

Funny thing about that... we had beta'd each other last year. Yes, I started mine well before he did. Not that it makes any difference, because the idea of mixing live action with anime is not really 'new' per say. So, the usage of it is not truly original, it's just an avenue that's hardly taken. In that light, should one really be judging on the usage of live action when most other videos are just using straight-up anime with song and still get really high originality marks?

I'm just saying, it's not the fact that I used OLA that should affect originality, but rather, how it was integrated along with the concept. If you want to know more, I put up a word document that goes a bit more in-depth of the concept and the usage of the OLA in the video description.

Thanks much for all the other comments again. I really can't stress that enough. |:>

Sometimes I feel that people point out 'it's been done before' to sort of give off a 'holier than thou' aura of righteousness.

Last I checked, there's no such thing as normal 'originality' anymore. Dramatic dance, serious comedy, whatever.

Every type of vid that's been done has been done. Now the execution, THAT'S where true originality comes in. For me, being original can range from being able to recognize a person's vid technique to concepts never tried/done before.

Anime to music, you can't be original to that anymore, live-action mixes etc.

At least, with this mindset, you worry more about content and less about originality and that makes grading things easier in my opinion...

I should note that I came up with the concept for d!gital me before I even knew Koop was working on a video, much less one that would use original live-action. Needless to say, I was disappointed when I found out :uhoh:
