Hey,
So I get up this morning and go to work. A normal regular day I thought it was going to be. I get in and have enough time to sneak a peek at my non-work messages. I get this message to the effect of “Ummm, there’s this video that is kinda ok but it seems that a bunch of the creator’s friends have banded together to give this vid all 10s on the opinions scale. It’s sitting on the top of the 10% scale, but putting it there was obviously some sorta plot.”
Ahh. A low priority “emergency” message, so I go ahead and take a look at it. Sure enough, there it sits on the top of the leader board. I go ahead and download the vid and check the vid’s info. What?? “Various” as the anime AND the music?? What kinda slacker puts up a vid with “various” as the info? Grrrrrr. This will not do at all. I pop open the database and take care of the erroneous information entries. Hmmm, but now the video has no anime or music listed but still has a local download link. Errrr, this will not do either. The rules are that a vid must have the music and anime information entered to be local. I go ahead and “hide” the local file while I’m in poking around.
By this time, the boss-man has arrived. No more time to have the Org open at work. “Hmmm,” I say to myself. “I’m sure this person will notice that their video download link is not longer there and they will write me a note saying, ‘Ummm, hey, uugh, I uploaded a video, but now it’s not there now. Why?’ I’ll just write them back at lunch saying that they need to have the music and anime info in there. I will go back and ‘un-hide’ the local link when the info is up and the guy won’t have to re-upload the vid.”
Lunch-time rolls around. No messages. Oh well. I guess it was a joke after all and wasn’t that important to them.
Someone pops in with an instant message. “Dude, there’s like a flame war going on about this vid that was plopped on the top of the 10% list.” Great. Just when things were actually calm on the forum. I can’t deal with it now. I’m swamped with work. I’ll have to get on it when I get home after I workout after actual work. Ooooh, but The Sweety works late today. I can take care of it when I get home but before a workout.
“Oh, man. Check this thread out. People are getting perdy nasty about it.” I sneak a peek at the thread. Yep, sure enough, here come the cry-babies. Fun… :-\
I get home after working all day. I fire up the laptop. What?? Can’t find the network?? Grrrrr. Instead of checking out what’s going on, I get to troubleshoot the home network. Turns out to be stupid Microsoft and their stupid driver updates for the wireless card. A roll-back of the drivers fixes the problem, but now I’m out of time and have to go meet the sweets.
Workout today is upper body. First a warm up, then stretch, the bench press and the whole routine. Not breaking any bench records today. It’s an hour later than the usual workout time. I’m tired and hungry. We end the workout with abs and cardio.
“Ya know what,” says The Sweety. “We don’t have much at the house to eat. Take Shampoo to date?” How can I resist?
Home again for a quick shower. There’s not too much around that’s close, so it will have to be Applebee’s tonight. It’s 8pm already so luckily there’s no line. Really lucky, too. We get in just as a big thunder storm rolls in. We’re seated quickly and make our orders: grilled fish for the lady and grilled chicken salad for me (gotta eat healthy, ya know). The order takes longer than expected. I guess they don’t have too many requests for the fish and had to pull one out of the freezer. We chow down, but, man, still hungry after that. Mmmmm, evil desert time: chocolate cake.
The storm lets up just as we get out. The drive home is fine, rolling over some flash-flooding after the rain has stopped. Home finally. The Sweety gets ready for bed since she has to work tomorrow. I kick on the net to finally see what’s up.
I can guess what’s going on. It’s the same kinda stuff that always goes on when things heat up on the forum. “What the heck is going on?” “It’s a conspiracy, I tell you!!” “Someone told and Phade’s gonna kick some bootay now!!” “The mods did it, I tell you!! I’m being repressed!!” “Ooooooo! You’re in trouble!!” “Oh yeah, well, your butt stinks!” “Nunt ugh! YOUR butt stinks!!” And so on and so forth…
So here I am writing the big long thing. Why? I dunno. Probably because it’s late and it’s been a long day already. I’m thinking more about if the full Donut server was sent out today or not (no message about that even though today was the estimated completion date). Maybe it will arrive at the colo center on Monday, maybe Tuesday. The current server is up to 93% capacity. Any longer and I’ll have to shut down the upload before the full server gets here.
I really need to get the coders group going. I’m just way too busy fixing little problems here and there. That kinda stuff just sucks time away from site development. What was the last big thing I fixed? Oh yeah, the star scale lame-o detector for people who just put the same score all the time. Man, I’m glad that list actually exists. I have actually been able to find good vids without putting much effort into looking hard. I really would like to get the “suggestion query” going on that one. That will make finding vids I like even easier. Plus, it should force people to give fair scores on the star scale. Without fair scores, the suggestion query will be useless for those people who don’t enter good data. The rest of us will be able to make good use of it. Haa haa!!
So, I get to actually have a few uninterrupted hours of development tomorrow morning. The Sweety will be at work. I will be home alone. Hopefully I won’t sleep in too much. It’s late now and I’m feeling perdy tired. My butt is falling asleep as it is.
