Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
 • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
 • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
 • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
 • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I think the other people were saying that despite the fact you worked hard on the effects, they felt the effects were really distracting the video. Learn WHEN you need to use effects and how it compliments the overall video content.

your control of motion against the start-stop rhythms is very good. not many people can do that well. however, the timing was off in a few places.

most the effects look like they were done in photoshop, other than the flashes from black and white, and i thought they worked well some of the time, not so well other times.

use dv-avi or windows media encoder's higher bitrate settings to export + post-processing to get a cleaner picture.

but nice video. it shows you put a lot of effort in.

The problem here, really, is just that WMV videos made on WMM aren't going to impress the big-time creators and critics here on the forum (and believe me, I'm pretty small potatoes; considering that the four videos I've released here are WMV's, haven't broke 3.5, and I've only made finals twice in the con circuit).
wmv and moviemaker has nothing to do with it. I've seen some pretty good videos done on Movie maker. Check out the winners of Castors WMV challenge contest for examples. Even downwithpants who posted above me, has some pretty good wmv videos. Stars are relative, I have some videos done on Premeire that has lower stars than 3.5. I also have a pretty mediocre vid done with popular anime and popular song thats around 3.8/9 ;p go figure ;p

I've actually had an idea like that for a while now ;p Using the 80s disco dance theme... If I ever actually get around to doing it now....

You're going to have to move up, or else that will show everyone you're nothing but ennui's little booty-beeyotch.
As far as popularity goes, I still say that, if you've got a good video (no matter what you used for to make it), submitting to conventions (esp. big ones) can do loads more than trying to catch the eyes of the "big-time creators and critics". It still remains true today that one of the major ways in which videos spread is by recommendations from people who liked them; if you can get your video played at a convention, that's hundreds (at the bigger cons, even thousands) of people right there that end up seeing your video, making it more likely that more people will like it and spread the word.

And if you're good about the video quality, no one watching it on the big screen will be able to tell you did it in WMM anyway, even if they would care.
