I wish I knew what I was expecting too, because it would appear as a new concept, or at least rarely used. I wouldn't say the effects are too colorful, but, I did move back a bit when they came on, it's not something I want to watch full screen close up. I never really thought of it as a moving picture, for that I would have expected just slowed down motion with black and white. Maybe if the brushstrokes?(wavy motions) had been static, it would have worked better. The borders to me look more like broken edges conveniently in a square than something withered away.Warheart wrote: Well first question what did you expect then? JCD told me that he thinks most of the effects were too colorful do you think the same or what were you expecting before watching it? About the borders, well I tried to make the image look like a moving painting with so I used these withered borders and the brushstrokes.
They are a bit distracting, the black waves, but, I don't know if I would give up on them. Using them to sync might not work, but if used as a motif, I think there is something to be achieved there. My only real problem with was how thick they were and how they didn't cover the entire screen.Warheart wrote: Yeah you're right the blackscreen was just in one layer of the image since I didn't want to interrupt the flow of the video to much but still sync the drums, but I guess I failed in this case I won't use that matter of sync again I think it's really a bit distracting.
If I figure out what I was expecting, I'll let you know, it was just that the use of that visualization/color effect with the borders led me to expect something outside of common practices for AMV's, maybe even a new direction.

Thanks for the nice comments I'm happy to see you liked my video. Strange you weren't scared of by the musicSierra Lorna wrote:Impressive video. I loved your use of color to change the moods, and I loved the overall feel of it too--very dark and mysterious. Nice work, very nice.
Well nontheless you sid it looked good even though didn't acheive what I wanted so I guess it's ok.Orwell wrote:I wish I knew what I was expecting too, because it would appear as a new concept, or at least rarely used. Hm ... well maybe I'll adjust it and use it again sometime when I think it may work out as an own motif.Orwell wrote:They are a bit distracting, the black waves, but, I don't know if I would give up on them. Well sorry I disappointed you in that case, but since you said I impressed you with my video I guess maybe my videos are not like others's, which is a very good thing.Orwell wrote:If I figure out what I was expecting, I'll let you know, it was just that the use of that visualization/color effect with the borders led me to expect something outside of common practices for AMV's, maybe even a new direction.

Pretty damn excellent work dude, the effects were extremely well intergrated and felt like a true part of the video. I loved what you did with the precussion synch too, especially given how difficult death metal can be with that. I loved the imagery as well, very well thought out scene selection. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the occasional presence of scenes with characters talking, aside from that, your best work.

The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
