"Drinking for a living that's just what I do.
When I'm not with you, my heart goes to bed."

How could you go wrong with that??! Seriously a great synopsis of FA. A great video (but as somebody said... just not ... FUN enough...) even better match.

And if Pod and some others wasn't enough, now you have helped to pushed yet another editor into the world of mp4/x264, and I'm lovin it. More editors need to start looking into x264 ;p

Great vid btw. Nice to see something different from you. I have seen the original Futakoi, but now the alternative looks interesting. I'll have to check it out ;p

mhmm... FA is best if you DON'T think about it. Seriously. I take it more a slice of life than a romance. The end is all F*ed up... and not in an Evangelion way. Futakoi was much better in this respect. Don't know why ppl seem to not like this series, it's a cute little series imo. One of the best slice of life in the vein of AZB, problem is most think of it as just another dating sim. FA has it's moments, as does Futakoi (note I hadn't seen it in 2 years...), none of which are in *THIS* video -lol- like I said a great song, but I don't know about the scene selection. Unless your objective is NOT to spoil some of the best scenes. THAT he did well ;p.

I think scene selection is the main thing I like about this video. It is dramatic yet silly at the same time. I don't know many decent videos that intentionally do this and keep it balanced in an enjoyable fashion.

Well I promised you a more detailed comment, so here you go. The video itself was really good and I'm happy you made it. Still there are some points I critisize.

1: Even though you used h264 the quality wasn't as good as I would have expected it, but it wasn't too drastic.
2: At some parts (I am thinking of the bath scene now, before the second lipsync) you lost the flow and the video lost it's feeling for some moments there.
3: The masks were good all in all but there is one with a girl beeing zoomed in from the front and well, there are holes in her clothes, where they had been white I guess T.T.

I was quite surprised when I first saw the video. I would call the music some neo-reggea or so, but it suited your concept. Moreover nice lipsync.

All in all I have to admit that Nio's rankning is right 9/10.

Give this kind of videos another shot, please.

"a girl beeing zoomed in from the front and well, there are holes in her clothes"

LMAO!! that's Sarah (... or Souchyo....) the holes look cool!! She look like Ms Galaxy (of Excel Saga and Avengers/ FF4 fame... not the same one or even the same genre but...). Their's another one like that... I put it in my op where I normally go into details, not here.

First, I was glad to see that you used that song in one of your video, a song that I like a lot, but I can't hide that I was a bit disappointed by your video.

I am talking as someone who has never seen the show, or even heard about it, but I felt the combination of comedy scenes with some more dramatic ones a bit awkward. I also I had at some points the impression that the flow of the video just went completely off, and the AMV itself and the song were isolated from one another, whereas they should have been as one.
Then, about the rotoscopic effets at the beginning, I felt they were wrong too, it made me feel that it was like a sort of "parody" effect, I mean that it looked like something overused.
I can admit that the mix between happiness/comedy and drama was made on purpose, but it just did not work for me, sorry.

Ah, I was not really focusing on the lyrics anyway, would've been more random as it already is in some parts ;)

Ohh, Alternative is so much better, alone the art has so much more detail ;) Futakoi is more like your basic cute harem anime :p But as Knowname mentioned it is best not to try to get to a point or think while watching :)

Those are things I wanted to do, and those are my interpretations of Sentimental AMVs (esp. Moonies comment) :] Thanks guys!
Tormentor wrote:1: Even though you used h264 the quality wasn't as good as I would have expected it, but it wasn't too drastic.
Yep. I could've cut down the filesize a good bit more but at costs of the users cpu power, so I rather went for this :)

I never really got that scene right, but I wanted to have it in there as an introduction to Sara's kick after that which was a must :D Fortunately it's not very long.

This was a compromise for not letting the background get wishy-washy. And rotoscopes are too annoying to do

:P Sorry, maybe in the future, but not this year I suppose.

Thanks for tons of replies, I lub you all :-*

I knew some people wouldn't really like the combination. That's ok, actually when I heard the song it sounded a bit sad in some places and pieces like the chours full of uplifting fun, so I gave it a try :)
I also I had at some points the impression that the flow of the video just went completely off, and the AMV itself and the song were isolated from one another, whereas they should have been as one.
I don't really get what you mean. I'm definetely lacking experience in creating such a flow though.
Then, about the rotoscopic effets at the beginning, I felt they were wrong too, it made me feel that it was like a sort of "parody" effect, I mean that it looked like something overused.
One of them was a bit of a sloppy solution, but I like the rest. Like I wrote to ingow in amvde, I used them because the scenes itself were too empty there. While I did search for some better suited scenes for hours, those were the thing I could come up with which statisfies me the most. If there's no fitting scene in the anime, you have to build your own, so to say :P

But overall I think I know what you're trying to say ;) To me at least, videos to songs I really liked beforehand always dissapoint me a bit even if they were well done, because my own imagination was different.

-----------------------

Ok, today I got a quick comment "What the heck is mp4?" (I wonder how this person was able to write when he obviously wasn't able to read :P), so I made a direct link with a Xvid version. Get this you can't / couldn't get the mp4 to play properly.
