Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

So, wait, the curtain thing was something you made yourself? Because that was fucking awesome. If the editing and source weren't already grabbing enough, to edit that in there was nice. Very nice. Very stimulative for yet more ideas for my own projekt no matter how one looks at it. 5/5 easily. If I had to criticize everything, the lines for the rotoscoped bits could have used more anti-aliasing, maybe a little more cleaning overall, but really that's a minor point.

Wow, how did this come up again? I thought the thread was already gone! :)

Thanks! Glad you like it! The curtain thing was done myself - I used keying though in combination with garbage mattes and track mattes. It took a while to get the right effect, but I'm not entirely happy with it though as the head of the character kinda deformes when he's going out of the screen. I know the edges are kinda wierd, but feathering and anti-aliasing didn't work, so I eventually left it like that. Should've masked though, but didn't know anything about that at the time. I'm actually the type of person who forgives people that make these kind of technical mistakes - as long as their idea are presented clear enough!
Infinity Squared wrote:Oooh, I can't believe I forgot to post back. I must say, you actually were able to turn Mind Game footage actually semi-sensical. There's a definite story drive there that is clear enough, and the imagery and great overlaying did well to push ahead your theme.
Thanks! Hmm... I thought Mind Game made much sense and loved every second I saw from it!
Warheart wrote:Well it's still the same impression I got when I first saw this video, since it's maybe the only Mind Game video (besides IS') that I know: It's damn unique. I love the masks and the calm storytelling. Smile

And to back up Stephan: release your Pale Cocoon video ... but fill the blackspace
Thanks for your comments! Good to hear you find it unique. Infinity Squared also has a Mind Game AMV, so if you like the more fun & uplifting videos, you should check that one out!

As for YOKO, I'll release it the 2nd day of Christmas - I'm determined now. As for the "36" (as I call it now), I'll now fill that up - I'm gonna have a lengthy explanation as for why I did it!

I would care for an opinion exchange (cause I liked your style and thoughts behind editing, your AMV was quite nice BTW.!) - you're in? Why didn't you send your AMV in for Abunai?

You read my mind, I was going to suggest the same thing. And to why I didn't enter the contest. I don't know really, probably because I didn't feel like it, just got into editing and didn't really think I was good enough, plus the fact that I'm not happy with it, the ending is rushed and quality sucks.
Je op komt tussen nu en morgenochtend, ik beloof het! Nu heb ik eindelijk tijd (AKA vakantie!) om het af te maken! See you at Animecon next year?
autraya wrote:*hands tissue* Don't get me wrong it's well put together, I didn't not like it, but I'm not really sure if I do like it. *sits back on fence*
I know I did like the black curtain pulling off the screen and that I wish I could do the effects you did Laughing
I could just be a bit slow... (brain is quite overloaded, adobe is messing with my head!) and it hasn't really sunk in yet.
Thanks for the tissue! I hope you'll eventually like it though... the effects are effects done for the first time for me, so if I can do it, you can do it too!

And I know the feeling of Adobe messing with your mind... *hands paracetamol against headache*

Yes, awesome. Glad to hear that I love that Video and without the "36" it might get one of my favorite sentimental videos this year and I bet others will think the same way. Looking forward to it. :)
Douggie wrote:Thanks! (<-alle replies beginnen hetzelfde bij mij!) Yeah, the lipsync sucked (the unintentional one was better than the intentional one) but I already knew that. See the page I created for it: http://www.leiseus.net/steadiermind - it might be an interesting read for you. It's too bad I had a deadline for Animecon and ran out of footage, because if I didn't I would've done things better.
Awesomething I wish everyone would make explanations like that.
