Dear lord, it's like I watched the series on fast forward while playing Guitar Hero
3 .. Overall 4 out of five, only because the near the end the cuts needed to be tighter, though good effects through out. I liked the guitars btw paid homage to the creators.

I understand your comments on the cuts, I will keep that in mind for any other video I do in the future. I'm glad someone liked the guitars... a comment like that makes me want to leave the video alone as it is.

I wanted to return comments to everyone who took the time to read the announcement, download the video and comment in this thread. So here we go.
angelx03 wrote:I much approve of this! Now excuse while I finish up joygasming this a lot! 8-)
Thanks for the comment angelx03! I make videos for people to joygasm to. =D
mirkosp wrote:Some parts were very good and could keep up really well with the pace of the song. Other parts instead weren't really that good. Most of it, though, was pretty cool and indeed I liked it a lot, though I think some parts could have been better in other ways. For the audio cuts, I think they were well done besides two. I'm referring about the one at around 03:16 and the one at around 03:44 (yeah, the ones in the big interlude). I think that all in all this is a 4.5/5... a little more towards the 4.
I mostly enjoyed it, good job.
Glad you enjoyed it for the most part. I've never edited a song for length, and I tried to blend things in without having the cuts too obvious, guess I'll need to work on that in the future. Who knows, I'll maybe make a full version of the 7 minute song.
OropherZero wrote:I fucking loved it, the best action AMV I've seen all year but... WHY OH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO INCLUDE THE 2 BOXES SHOWING DRAGONFORCE PLAYING THEIR GUITAR-THINGY it was pretty distracting and its not like I give a damn about the band while the AMV is playing. But it's an awesome AMV so I guess I can kinda ignore it. I liked the way you synched the AMV, if you just listen to the fast background beats then I think the pacing is a bit too slow, so by the midway point I decided not to give them much attention and by doing that I really got into it, especially towards the end. Now excuse me while I hunt down the 'Unlimited Blade Works' path game and buy that Saber figurine ~_~

4.75/5    - would have been a solid 5 from me if you took out the dragonforce boxes =D The AMV had a different feel to your previous one so it wasn't repetitive and I'll be looping the two.
Your comments are noted, especially for the guitar overlays. I'm glad you like this one along with my previous one. =)
Nunchuck wrote:The comments made me curious

those boxes @.@

Well I don't want to bitch about the effects you used, but for me who is unfamiliar with the source there is nothing, but the action which keeps me interested watching further into the amv. I wish there was something else though, because I got bored after minute three ... you still did an awesome job though and the effect at 3:16 was pure win :D
Yeah, I can understand that. It is hard to get a feel for the AMV if one isn't familiar with Fate/Stay Night. Glad the action kept your attention mostly. Thanks for the comment on 3:16. =3
Falconone wrote:wow really cool video. It was long but i enjoned it really well. For me it was a great fun to watch it, great work.
Thanks! At least it wasn't 7 minutes long, like the original song. My last video was just a little over 6 minutes.

That's okay, I think someone once said "it's not for everyone", and I definitely didn't make the video just for you. I guess I know not to get you an AMV for your birthday. I suppose I should be grateful you took the time to watch at least part of the video, comment that you did, and even went so far to say you closed it, and ending it with a small quote with picture of an ass on a microphone (at least I think it's an ass/donkey), saying you don't like it.

Most would just not comment and leave it that. Thanks for the effort anyways. o.o
Kalium wrote:It was good. I was really impressed and very happy.

Then I got to 3:15, and stared at my screen wondering if you'd lost it. So fucking random and jarring. Then the guitar in the corner, adding insult to injury. It's just distracting. Yes, it's amazing fingerwork. I don't give a fuck. If I wanted to watch Dragonforce play, I'd go do that.

You know what really annoyed the hell out of me, though? The Ergo Proxy-esque text/visual overlays. I realize the 'music videos' on the DVDs are obsessed with them. That doesn't make them suck any less.

The lyric sync is an amazing feat, though. Pegasus to "So now we fly ever free" literally gives me chills. Even more impressive is that you maintained a loose flow flow of events even with this.

Overall, four of five. Ditch the guitar crap and the random pacman shot, and I'll be a very happy man. The overlays I can put up with.
Hmm, considering the original song, you should probably bring that up with Dragonforce themselves, if it was so random, since those were Pac-Man sounds that Herman Li was making. I felt I was just adding to that effect from the song itself.

As for the overlays, I haven't seen Ergo Proxy myself, so your reference is falling on ignorant ears. I guess I can infer on what you mean, but I'd have to watch the show to fully understand that. Some people get upset when there's just clean footage throughout a video and then some get mad when there's added noise or effects that "dirty" the frames. I guess I wanted to mix these in here.

I'm pretty well known for my lyrical sync with my scene selection, and I felt this was a good representation of that. So, I am happy you notice and enjoyed that.
SF_Phoenix wrote:It was an enjoyable action video, but I agree with other comments that starting at 3:15 things started to get ruined. The scene right at 3:15 with the 'pacman' thing was just so... =/. And the guitar playing parts really really irritated me, it would have been so much better without them imo. And near the end, at 4:41 to 4:48, the stills feel that they don't carry the action strength that the rest of your video had. The fact that the stills were just switching to the beat didn't feel very strong either. Had they maybe zoomed in, it would have felt a lot stronger.

Overall it was enjoyable though.

4/5
Yeah, seems I'm getting a mixed bag with the guitars. I've noticed that my friends with ADD got pretty irate when they saw those, saying they couldn't help but watch them. Then on the other hand, my other friends thought it was genius to add them.

I suppose from 4:41 - 4:48 could had been dealt with in a different manner, so your comments are noted for when I make my future videos. Zoom = Stronger.
Keish wrote:Overall it was a nice, and enjoyable AMV, I could get into details, but I'd have like.. a novel by the time I'd finish. The only thing I have to say is when you added in the guitar playing clip, it sorta distracted me. That is all. :V 4/5
Thanks for the comments Keish. You can always make an OP if you want to go into detail. =3
CodeChrono wrote:First off, let me say that with the exception of a Iron Chef, I have never heard this song before. I thought that I liked the editited short version of it, but I was IN LOVE with it with the full version. (Though after 3:15 and with the boxes/pacman ripoff, however, I wanted to murder you. T.T It took away from the overall video nearly to the point of it ruining the video's overall experience from me. Olus the fanart at the end was just annoying annoying. I know it's redundant get over it.

The video up to that point was so interesting, and I would agree that it has been the best action video of this year so far. It was very interesting and compelling. I'm actually considering actually watching this series now. :O

Editing (with the exception of hte rant above) was nicely done. I loved the fact that you didn't go the "seizurific" route with this one.

Definitly one of the better videos I've seen, but I'm tempted to run this through V-Dub and cut out that monstrocity at 3 fifteen. T.T

4.25/5.oo
As I said in the vid description, there's probably no one who wants to sit through 7 minutes of an action video, even to a Dragonforce song. The editing was required, lest I get pelted with rocks at a convention. While I agree the full song is pure win, for a competition AMV, it wouldn't work. Maybe in my spare time I'll make the other 2 minutes just for the sake of making them.

It stings that you would call the pac-man addition and the guitar overalls a ripoff. As I said before, Herman Li made those sounds to fully emulate the pac-man noises, so I felt it was appropriate to draw my own little Saber Pac-Man and add that it. For anyone who is familiar with Fate, Saber can eat like a horse, so yeah. I wanted to pay homage to the guitarists for their incredible shredding, but I guess it wasn't appreciated in the video. I understand why people would feel that way, since most are stating it takes away from the video. That has been fully noted and will be dealt with.

With that being said, I'm glad the videos have compelled yourself and others to watch the anime series. There are reasons why it is one of my current favorite, and I'd like to say these videos are nice PR for the show... despite Geneon shutting down all domestic distribution outside of Japan. The full DVD series is out there, just hard to find since there are no more being produced.
ShatteredFlame wrote:Very disappointed about the song cut :( , didn't enjoy the video because of that, sawry

Sawry you feel that way , can't make everyone happy. I rather have people mad at me about the cuts than pissed off that they had to download a 7:00 minute video.
Batto! wrote:rofl at 3:15
could of done without the guitars
overall not bad :o
Ishbalan wrote:It would have been better with the full song. :( I also say that the guitar watermarks were unnecessary.

Other than that, excellent work. 4/5
Yeah, I know the cuts were pretty hard to swallow, like I said, I rather have a short song, than have people blasting me for it being too long. Thanks. Glad you both enjoyed it. Guitar issue has been noted.
OropherZero wrote:I liked the pac-man Saber but damn I didn't even notice the chibi until ScorpionP provided a timestamp and I actually went back to check =P
Yeah, thanks for that comment on the pac-man part. ScorpionP had a pretty sharp eye to point that out. When I added it, I guess I half wanted it to to be apparent and half wanted it to be hidden. Guess I didn't hide it well enough.

It was well edited, but I prefer your Knights of Fate video much more than this Fate/Stay Night vid.

I guess it mostly has to do with personal bias. I never really like the series itself, but the way you presented it in Knights of Fate was pretty cool and fitting. It is full of appropriately timed action sync and scene changes. I also think some of the effects are interesting and add to the video rather than detract. (starting around 3min to pretty much the end) It also helps that I love Muse. >_>

With the new video, I not a big fan of the genre of music. I don't really like when people speed up the footage to compensate for the fast pace of the music so 0:15-25 wasn't a great first impression for me. I also echo the sentiment about the clips of the guitars. It is really cool to see people play that fast on a guitar, perhaps too cool >_> (thus very distracting) The Pac man part, while it fits that audio, was out of place compared to the rest of the video.

So... yeah, primarily personal preference. I don't expect anyone to go out of their way to make a video that pleases me. I know there is a much larger audience and yourself to take into consideration so take or discard whatever I said if you agree or disagree. Both are well edited videos.

Well, the anime series is not for everyone, especially if they are fans of the games... some people completely despise the anime in most cases. Regardless, I'm a fan of the voice actors that played in the Japanese version, and I did enjoy the storyline for the most part. I'm glad you enjoyed Knights of Fate for what it was, I've gotten complaints that it was more like a trailer than an AMV, but yeah. Muse is indeed a sweet band, and I have plans for other videos with their songs. It's just time I need. =p

I'll be honest, Power Metal isn't really my thing, and I didn't really like the song all that much. But it grew on me, and thought it would be appropriate to use in an AMV, hence this project. I've never used the speed-up technique with a song before, as was seen in Knights of Fate, I kept the speed for all the clips as they were. If it is any consolation in this video, during the lyrics, I never sped up any clips.

The guitars have been commented on many times already, but yeah, perhaps they were too cool, hence became a distraction. I understand your view on the Pac-Man part. While random, it may pull the flow of the video apart, depending on how you look at it.

As you said, I'm not out there to please everyone, but I want to see what people like in a video, so I appreciate the comments and your time. Thanks again for watching. =)

Awesomeness.

I feared it'd get long and boring, being 5 minutes and all, but it was entertaining all the way through :D

God it's been ages since I saw fate/stay night :P It makes me want to re-watch the whole thing.
