  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Excelent for a first vid. The song and vid is a bit too long for me personaly. It drags a bit near to the end, but thisis really greatfirst work and I don´t see any big flaws or any heavy editing/effects mistakes.

Well done. 4/5

-qc's are informal, optional, anonymous comments left behind by people when they leave a star rating... they could say anything... [Download a video, and check your Main page to see what I mean.]

-op's are supposed to be formal analysis of an amv, broken down into 10-point categories. They too are optional, and the editor decides which ops to make publicly viewable [up to 2]. Some examples from my Astroboy vid.

-# op's received doesn't necessarily indicate how good an amv is; in fact, I don't leave op's, just qc's... but I'm weird like that...

oh, and I forgot to mention: check out the The VidID tag stickey in this forum to save yourself some time :)
ooooooh ...... o___o that's really handy... thanks! xD

Thanks! :) Do editors put AMVs in their resume/demo reel? xD

Stuff on this list... mostly the first two usually coupled with some kinda try hard rock band.

now about your video...

HOLY FUCK IN A HANDBASKET!!
That is categorically the BEST first video I have EVER seen.
EVER.

some things for improvement: try and cross fade a little between your clips even if it's only 5 frames, the transitions will still hit the beat it will just be smoother.
I really liked how you wove the two anime together, I just think a little more footage showing the human side would have helped instead of constant planes flying around. Yes I like planes, but it got a little old near the end.
 (and an op to come)
Hey! Thanks for the critique! I plan on going for some VCAs for 2009, so I really appreciate constructive feedbacks. ^_^ Phantasmagoriat gave me some in his qc too so I'll look into both - I am already seeing things I can change about the video, too. :) I'll give it a few weeks and let new ideas settle (as well as getting more feedbacks) before coming up for a second edition I think! Once again, thank you! :)

To Full Metal Sempai, Falconone: Thanks you two! Really appreciate your encouragement! :)

sweetdeily: Is ScourpionP really your sweetie? :O Well umm I really enjoyed Feel the Mambo, so I'll take that as a compliment! ^_^ I don't know about kung fu fighting though... :o

Bauzi! Was hoping you would drop in - I like the kind of feedbacks you give. :) I think for my next revision I am going to vary the footages more - Autraya said the planes got old toward the end too and wanted more human footages so I'll look into that. :) Thank you for commenting!

Hey, I got your PM, I was at work when I got it, though, so sorry for the delay.

To echo a lot of the comments, this is definitely the best first video I've seen yet this year. You captured the mood-synch perfectly without having to rely on repetitive beatsynch, which is, sadly, how most people would've edited with this song.

I'll definitely be on the look-out for more videos from you.

Yay it's Ileia! The goddess of effect-free editing! xD *worships?*

No really, means a lot to me that you are willing to drop by and take a look. :) Thank you very kindly for the positive comment! If you have the time may I humbly request for a critique from you? No rush though - later this week would be perfectly fine. ^_^

Your style of editting is the kind that I love to see. Internal sync pleases me to no end. Honestly, you must have practiced a bit before attempting your first because there are quite a few people who don't attempt to or can't pull off something as artistic as this on their very first. Honestly loved it, especially one scene. 2:20, where the Jet Fighter takes off just made me feel that surge of energy. Although I was a bit surprised to see that lens flare at the beginning, it didn't really seem out of place but I didn't really like the TV Simulator, that effect in Vegas always looks a bit cheesy to me and stands out if not implemented right but for a title card, I guess I can let it slide. Honestly wish I could be as proud of my first AMV as I'm proud of this :D I'm going to watch it again. Keep up the good work 4/5.

Edit: A Ball of Fur that's also a Sun Goddess...awesome XD

OH NO!!!! Please don't tell me you don't know about the game Okami.... :O
BE PREPARED TO BOW DOWN TO PURE AWESOMENESS!
AND ANOTHER!

Best RPG ever made - willing to dare say it is as good as, if not better, than FF7. ;)

And no this isn't my first time editing; I worked at a video on demand network for a year after graduating from college, and cut a lot of show and network promos for them (such as this one). It's mostly boring editing with very little creativity involved since the promos are done weekly using a pre-made template, but deadlines are crucial in that industry so...

I have cut one personal video project before this, though I prefer not to call that one a music video because in all honesty I consider it a short film (go to YouTube, type in "Hope Leopard" and you should find a 2-part video titled "Hope). The editing on that one is a lot softer, since it's mainly a mood piece.

Regardless, this is my first attempt at AMV as well as cutting something really fast-paced. :) Very much appreciate your feedback - and yes Vegas' effects are cheesy, but until I learn more about AfterEffects this is all I got - Premiere has an even poorer effects library. :/ Do you have a better idea on how I should do the title screen? Would love to here some suggestions ^_^

=O What do you think I am, some sort of heathen? I have heard of the awesomeness known as Okami, just wanted to say a ball of fur sun goddess is pure awesomeness. I love the game...what little I got to play of it that is, i still haven't gotten around to getting the full version which is a crime.

I loved the beat sync in that Studio 4 Fitness promo And the internal sync where they moved to the beat was epic. Okay moving on, because I'm still not sure what Pilates are...sounds like some sort of Greek food.

Found the Hope Leopard vid, will finish it once I get back, liking it so far...although I would have preferred cheetahs :( After Effects is a bit daunting but if you've used Photoshop, the learning curve is a bit less steep. As for the title cards...hm, not sure, something more colorful or somber that matched the video, can't really think of anything since i'm in a rush at the moment. Anyways, check your PM Inbox. =P

Great vid, it was fun to watch. This may have a high chance to win best 1st vid for next years VCA's.
