Some good parts, some not so good... lyric sync is there, but I agree with the lack of flow. Even as a 'old timey' video, it lacked the sense of smooth scene progression for me. Many of the scene changes cut from scenes to scene with just straight cuts, which is perfectly fine if done well, but it was jarring in many instances in this video. For straight cuts to be effective, in places where the tempo doesn't change, but simply lyrics, it should feel seemless. This wasn't the case for many parts in the video however. Internal sync was apparent, but the transitions between them was not polished.

Sorry, but that just makes me sad... Flow may be hard to describe, but it's what can make a video look n00b-ish to looking pro. And I do think it's required to make a "good video".DropOuter wrote:What does flow mean? Is it just another word for "cutting more often"?
Flow is basically how good you are at editing with motion and how that motion goes along with the music. Pretty much having a good "editing eye". It's about making your cuts end and begin in just the right places so that you pick the right motion from that scene, and that it looks smooth with the scenes next to it (and that it syncs with the music helps.) It doesn't mean cutting more often, it means making better cuts. For example, a bad cut might be having a super-intense action scene cut off suddenly mid-action into a completely still face shot. A good cut would keep the motion going so the cut seems seemless. Another example of poor flow is scene flickers/pops, some of which I spotted in your video at 2:14 and 2:31 (very shot 1-frame scenes cut in that aren't supposed to be there). Things like that drive me bananas. You just need to watch for things like that and pay a little more attention to where you place your cuts. A part that I think had good flow around the explosions at 3:15-3:16. You got the sync right, the tempo, and the motion had a good feel: you get to see all the motion in there and the cuts aren't jarring.
As a separate note, though, I think this video could actually use more cuts since the song's pretty fast-paced.
Also, when you slow down a scene in Adobe Premiere, uncheck the box that says "Deinterlace When Speed Is Below 100%", under Video Options. It will get rid of that weird interlacing you're getting on a couple scenes.
