2. I find your "effort values" rather ironic... I actually took my time this time, the first one I just randomly threw shit on the timeline... no seriously, my friend was rushing me off of the computer so even though I didn't feel like I was done, I released it anyways... There is a reason the sync in the original wasn't as tight as it should have been.

Granted this time I didn't spew negative overlays all over the video (to keep up the "timing" on my rather long run on video segment), but I did do some effects and transitions even though more subtle took quite a bit more time than throwing a negative and a cookie cutter on to a clip and then setting a few random key frames. Not to mention I was a lot more picky about scene selection and placement this time around, and went through at least 9 betas of changing around the scenes, and picking the right scenes... I actually didn't rush anything at all O.o (lets not even touch on how many more DVDs I had to rip...)

but I suppose if you say I put less effort into it, then you must be right... the original video took me 2-4 days, this one took me 2-3 weeks O.o

I never watched the first one, but I can say this is one of Jaddzia's better videos editing wise. Alot of subtle internal sync and good scene selections. Timing is right on the mark also. I see no evidence of this being thrown together at the last minute.

Well I really like that Haibane Renmei video. Although I didn't get every part of it (I haven't seen this Anime yet >.<) I think I still got the whole thing somehow ^^
And I just like the general mood of this video, and the editing is pretty good too :)

I didn't like the Sparkles one too much though, I don't know, I was just expecting through the whole video that the song would somehow change and be faster or something like that, but it didn't... so the song was pretty boring and annoying to me.
The video itself was cute though ^^

Holy crap, watching Pretty Sparkles: Remixed together with the old version you see HUGE differences. And some things that don't change, namely the song is the weak point. I've always thought that the song is a little slow paced -- not quite "pop" enough.

I do miss some of the beat syncing of the original, even though it was mostly cheesy white flashes and positive/negative switching. :P

Anyways, here's what I noticed:
New sources/footage. (Makes the video feel less repetitive.)
Some existing footage moved around.
WAY better video quality.
Corrected video aspect ratio. (And now 16:9 widescreen!)
Improved audio quality.
Much better and tighter sync.
Better scene selection. (IMO, less random feeling)
Sparkly new effects.
Different cheesy transition for the credits. :P

Overall, a big improvement.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

My bad, I missed a lot of the internal sync and effects after watching it. Upon second glance, it's better then i thought. Still liked the first one better ...maybe I'm just a sucker for nostalgia.
Yeah, i Joined in '03 but didn't really get into the site until late '04(I think ...whenever it was i started popping up in mIRC). I downloaded a few crappy videos and they put me off for a while. But videos like Pretty Sparkles pulled me back.

Thanks, about the first video, and yea in the second video, i know the song pretty much sucks, and I've known it since the first version, so no sorries, I think the song would be cooler if it sped up, but I'm too lazy to do audio edits like that O.o blah O: anyways thanks for the comments :3

I might still have a Picture in Picture version around somewhere, or I could always re-export it... :3

I can understand nostalgia, a lot of the time when I watch other peoples video re-makes and stuff, I tend to say that I like the original better as well, but eventually the "new version" ends up growing on me O.o No stress I wasn't trying to be like argumentative or anything, I just wanted to state that I indeed put a whole lot more effort into the video this time around, and it seemed really odd that you couldn't see that O.o

I said it to you at AWA but I'll say it again here: Intangible Dream was one of my favorites on the Pro discs. You created a great mood here. Definitely worth keeping. :)
