This was a big miss for me. For all the good things I've heard about Soul Eater, this kinda made me not want to watch it. I think it was mostly the color effects. I think that the same video with the original coloring would've been ten times better.

Soul Eater has an animation style that relies alot on sharp, thick outlines, and all the glow, blur, blend modes, and most of all these Vegas noise textures, destroyed most of that. I agree that you need some effect to make the different scenes of a section fit to each other, but this was just way too much of it, boiling down the action to a blue-black to orange-brownish undistinctive soup.
I get the feeling of "Man, this could've been so much better with less effort put into it". That being said I couldn't really enjoy it, sorry.

Haha yeah this video isn't really horror, it just has a darker atmosphere and when i sent betas people kept saying "oh so you edit horror stuff now" so i figured i'd just add it as a category because of that.

Like Goth Rock in general...it doesn't have to be scary or depressing, although people still assume it is due to the atmosphere.

I thought the effects worked well, and after seeing other videos that tend to play it safe when using footage from Soul Eater it was a nice change (although I'll admit to being one of those who hasn't watched the show). I guess it's a love-it-or-hate-it thing.

Heh... color effects worked only in some spots imho, and I didn't feel much connection between the audio and the video. Maybe this is going to be one of those videos that I start to like so and so and eventually grows on me so much that it becomes one of my favorites. For the time being, it was ok, but not that much to my liking, I guess.

I actually enjoyed the color effects, though I must admit some worked better than others. Also think the video could have benefited from being shorter, it just felt long and repetitive. Still a solid editing job overall.

S'aight, i know i got carried away with the colors and stuff. This definitely wont be my last SE vid though and they wont be nearly as colorized as this one.

Well Chii this was very classic of your style of editing but I will agree with some one the use of color effects did more damage than helped the vid. I sill liked it for the most part but its not your best by far. I think that asking you to not make a super flashy amv is like asking Godix to not be a jerk.

I've been meaning to watch Soul Eater, but now that I've seen this video............ I MUST WATCH SOUL EATER!!!! Great job once again oh great Chii master. The music fit the video very well IMO, and I myself loved the effects that you used. The OP was pure win as well. Keep up the great work cutie!!

In the overhall i must say i enjoyed your vid' the editing was fine and the music awsm, but i coulden't really get that much into it because of the amount of color filters you used that gives an unatural aspect to your amv.

Keep the good job but use less colors kitchy effects
