The beginning was a bit rough, but it got better as it went on. All in all, an okay video.

Re: Samurai Style AKROSS CON 2009
Now see, I LIKED the beginning more than the other parts of the video. In fact, my first mental comment was: "I have to tell him to do more stuff like that and back off the action videos!" The beginning of the video was what made me interested in watching the rest of it - if it had started out in the same style as the "action" part, I wouldn't have been paying nearly as close attention all the way through. The opening gave the impression there was a story to be told, with specific characters who had clearly defined personalities and stories of their own...that story wobbled the further it got into action AMV territory, though, then got yanked out again at the end. To use one of my eternal analogies, this video sort of felt like it was composed of a prologue and epilogue that were more meaningful than the main part of the book.
But then again, I don't like action AMVs without substance and will generally point this out as a flaw unless everything else totally blows me away - put two well-crafted action AMVs side by side and, for me, the one with a tale to tell will be more memorable and therefore better of the two. So I view this video from the standpoint that it started out as exactly the kind of action AMV I really like, but evolved into something that more closely resembles tons of others of its ilk - still good, still shows style and skill, but was not what I was hoping for.
I would really like to see you doing some slower-paced action videos which break the mold by being strong and powerful without succumbing to the "Action AMV=Killer Beat Sync+Random Cool Scenes." I think the results would be quite pleasing b/c (in my mind, at least) you've demonstrated an ability to not only capture a dramatic mood, but put your own spin on it.

Anyway, like I've thought from the beginning, this is still one of the best Champloo videos ever made, next to Ingow's "Ready for War" video; yours might even edge his out a little bit because you captured all the characters well while Ingow's focused primarily on Mugen. That sense helped yours feel really dedicated to Champloo as a whole and made it an excellent tribute to the series. 5/5, Keep kicking ass
