I agree on the Celes/Locke segment(s) part. I had iffy feelings about that, but I wanted to be true to the game so I went with them being in the same segment all-together. But you're idea is a good one, I'll keep it in mind.dwchang wrote:Just read through the entire thread and am currently listening to the song. There seems to be a few problems with namely: Celes/Locke and Edgar/Sabin. There music is pretty much very intertwined. I believe Celes portion (~6:11 - 7:02) is immediately followed by Locke's portion (~7:02 - 7:24). Would it be best to just meld these together since the editor who gets Locke would only get a 22 second clip?
Edgars portion (~2:18 - 2:50) and Sabin's portion (~2:50 - 3:03) is the same case.
I'd suggest assigning each of these as one track since they are ~1:00 a piece. Also they both are somewhat symbiotic (proper usage of word?). You kind of need the other to do the first better.
For example, if I were assigned Celes/Locke I would definitely got for a couple relationship in an anime like Hitomi/Celes and Vaughn/Locke. IIRC the ending scene in FFVI is Celes running, she falls and is about to lose her grip and Locke saves her. I could easily transition into something like Vaughn flying down to save Hitomi or some junk like that. See what I'm getting at? I'd recommend these tracks be assigned in conjunction or at the very least the two editors working together. Just my two cents.
The Edgar/Sabin segment is the same actually. The part where you said it was Sabin's is just louder and more full-blown than the previous part (where you said was Edgar's part). That's how I see it anyways.
We should email Nobuo-san and ask him.

Alright cool. I know someone else called Locked and I would've called Celes, but under those circumstances it may be difficult. I suggest something like a lottery like DDR Project did or perhaps like..."start mailing at X:XX A.M. or whatever" and first come first serve. Then again, you said this may be awhile so (shrug).Pie Row Maniac wrote:I agree on the Celes/Locke segment(s) part. It's been done. Usually with orchestration, but similar effects can be created with remixes.Pie Row Maniac wrote:What could be more nostalgic than the original? o.O
Anyway, it doesn't seem like people are very supportive of this. So scrap it.

The thing I don't want is for the character playing Locke to just get the measely 13 seconds of Locke's theme, while Celes' theme is somewhere around 40 seconds I think. It would seem a little (for lack of better term) unfair. So putting the two together seems to work out nicely I think. That and it's true to the game's ending.

Yeah I knew something like that was going to happen since I was "calling" Celes and then realized (hence the post) that Locke's portion is pretty much only 13 seconds. Sort of sucks for the person who called Locke. However, by the same token, I didn't want to pretty much have 80% of the track and screw over that person. I was willing to let them take the entire track (assuming they wanted Celes as well), but this works too .Pie Row Maniac wrote: Rock paper scissors come to mind...

However, for something like this, I recommend whoever does the track to choose a couple. Namely a couple that the female companion gets saved by the male. This is a nice interlude into Locke's portion of the song. Along the same lines for Sabin/Edgar. Pick a fairly close duo or even better siblings.

I was thinking of different anime couples that come to mind for Celes & Locke, and the two main characters from Inu-Yasha came to mind (Never seen the anime, but seen enough clips to get the general idea). It's just a suggestion.dwchang wrote:However, for something like this, I recommend whoever does the track to choose a couple. Namely a couple that the female companion gets saved by the male. As for Edgar & Sabin, I was considering Vash & Knives from Trigun but doing so would be pretty difficult considering those two's hair changes quite a bit as well as their outfits. Also, Knives is a mean lil bastard and he rarely has any normal smiles. However it COULD work if the editor is willing to try and change facial expressions and somehow make it look like Vash & Knives are loving brothers. So like I said, it would be difficult. But not impossible.

Well for me, if I were to get it, I'd cast Celes as Hitomi and Locke as Vaughn from Escaflowne. The reason A) In the ending sequence, the part where Locke's theme comes in is a bit of a "forte" and changes the tone of the song. I would definitely edit this to where Hitomi is falling and Vaughn's wings come out (to the change) and him rescuing her (like Locke and Celes sequence in the game). B) I am an Escaflowne nut .Pie Row Maniac wrote: I was thinking of different anime couples that come to mind for Celes & Locke, and the two main characters from Inu-Yasha came to mind (Never seen the anime, but seen enough clips to get the general idea). As for Edgar and Sabin, I don't know about Knives b/c like you said...he's a psycho . I'll have to think further to figure out a good loving duo.
