Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

AE is a really great tool for mask creation... And about mask animation - after you animated 1st and last frame,AE trying to make mask animation automatically, but its looking realle worse, you must recreate every frame of animation if you want clean and good moving mask(what we were doing all the time).

Yes, you have to keyframe its position (or something to that effect... it's been months since I last used it) for every time they move.

To make them smooth you'd modify the "Feather" settings... although if it's too smooth the mask won't be that clean.

so true,
you wind up with blurred edges if you try to overcompensate the mistakes by feathering. its better to just take your time and work out the kinks carefully

Just goes to show how lazy I am when I edit lol...

Frame to frame editing, [goes insane]

I salute those willing to go through such trouble so I won't have to ^_^

you just use vector paths in photoshop.......I think those go much quicker and cleaner

Someone here (I think it was Corran) mentioned that The GIMP can do bezier-curve lassoing... if it's true, then I know what *I'm* using for my next mask-heavy video. :P

(I've only ever used Photoshop 5.5's polygonal lasso -- I tried the magnetic lasso but it just wasn't giving me satisfactory results.)

I'll have to look into doing the paths in PS instead of AE, see how it goes. Im so used to AE that im not sure which would be faster.

but ummm haven't we like hijacked this topic? i mean were no longer talking about the dudes video much any more... its still on topic to an extent. should this be split aside from the topic so we don't keep spamming the other people?

AE is the one program I have vowed to never use.
As if I could ever figure out how
