Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

i was gona post some long thing about how people are missing the point of why we started maing amvs in the first place, but i decided against it. I quit... writing... that : /
Who are the people who are quiting anyway? I don't see anyone i know quiting, and after 3 long years, i definatly wont quit because of a stupid peice of moving pixels (sorry koop, no offence, i know you lub them pixels). Actually i''ve thought about quiting after seeing several videos. koops video did nothing to make me want to quit. In fact, i after seeing the betas so many times, it's not as amazing to me as it was when i first saw the beta many months ago. this video actually makes me want to work on my own. Try new things and Improve my skills. But quiting is stupid and if you feel you have to quit because of someones video, why are you making amvs in the first place?
That's my post, i have to get these videos done and rdy for AX (but too lazy : /)

Yeah, good point. I don't know why I keep doing this when there's all that cool stuff to be watched. Maybe every group needs some lamers to make them feel better about themselves? I dunno. I have fun doing this, but uh, that's not a very good excuse for churning out garbage videos. (not the band. lol.)
Maybe if you already rock you can be inspired to aspire to new heights of skill, but uh... I for one can't make a transition that doesn't look like shit, and I feel like a fricking moron because I don't know the best way to make matte transparencies. Kindergarten crap. So there's really no question of aspiring to any heights; all it does is show you how close you are to the bottom.
Not that ANY of that is the fault of the 1337. Of course. I mean, they're doing everything right.
And thanks, Rozard, Strong Sad is indeed highly underrated.

I'm pretty new around here, and I've found that videos of Euphoria's quality are quite inspirational.
I very much enjoyed the video, but after watching it I was slightly intimidated because I know that I will never be able to make a video quite like it. After watching it a few more times, I thought there's no reason why I can't strive to make a video that is of similar quality.
While the effects seem rather daunting to me, not all videos need effects to capture a song as well as Euphoria did. It's just one way of doing things.
Anyway, I'm just trying to say that no technique or particular AMV will ever be the "be all, end all" AMV. There are always new ways of doing things, and always ways to improve older techniques.

*jumps in head first*
There really are no l33t. None whatsoever. Sure, we give people like AD and now Koop a big character with mega l33t editing powers... but they aren't so different from anyone else. I'm sure Koop didn't want people to see this and suddenly say, "Oh man, my vision sucks now. I'm going to run away with my tail between my legs."
And I honestly hope those of you who mentioned just giving up now reconsider.
Sarah, it's apples and oranges. It just turns out that some people like apples much more. But that doesn't make the oranges any less good.
Mmm... oranges.
Honestly now, what makes you a "peon"? I can tell you with absolute surety that Koop makes vids for the same reason you mentioned right there. He had a vision in his head that he wanted to make more real. He simply had more knowledge about how to make his vision prettier.SarahtheBoring wrote:Personally as a peon, I make videos because I have them running in my head and it makes me happy to see 'em for real.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
