- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

Kinda late in the fray but I figured I might as well offer up my 3 cents.
First of all, bravo I've been anticipating this video since I saw the beta (heh.. every now and then I'll sit down and just watch my fave AMVs for a while, and I'd always watch the beta along with it. Now thats something).
I see this vid winning AT LEAST 1 major con award and at least 2 VCA's next year. I voted for Koops for Best New Creator, not based on Damaged (though its a fantastic video), but because of the beta, and I had seen his incredible potential.
I've seen RahXephon, and those saying that this vid doesn't have an artistic side, need to think again. The way the video depicts the relationships between the characters, the mental anguish that Ayato goes through, and the whole "dream" theme, it all worked together just perfectly. You couldnt have chosen a better series to do this video to. Although, I would definitely like to see you remaster this vid once all the R1's are released.
Another big thing I love about this video is the song. After seeing the beta, I immiediately downloaded the entire Frou Frou album, and then bought it soon after. I can say I'm definitely a Frou Frou fan. Though I don't know if I could ever make a Frou Frou AMV, since I'd always internally compare it to Euphoria and become depressed :\
Anyways. This is easily the best new video of 2003 in my book. And I can't wait to see what you have to give us next.

Wow this is what happens after not reading the forums for an evening. I know I'll be repeating a lot of things, but at the same time I'd like to think it'll help .
I hate to be brutally honest, but if you are a creator who does this to win awards or impress others, I think you're in for a very short-lived and disappointing career. Not to say that you can't do it, but you won't be happy doing it and when you don't please others, you'll be totally distraught as we are seeing. Also, your "standards" are sort of set by someone else and not yourself. It seems more like a job right?
I hate to be honest again, but perhaps it's good that these "editors" quit. I'd rather have a community in which all of us were doing our own things and sharing it with others. I think this problem of envy, jelousy and a mad desire to win has been going on to long in this hobby and perhaps this would stop a lot of the flaming and jelousy. I'd much rather have editors who are dedicated to their work (regardless of what is out there) because THEY want to do it and see the results.
By the same token (another mean statement), I hate to break it to you, but this is a...subculture (AMVs) of an already small subculture (anime). AMVs are a pretty small thing in the big scheme of things. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy making AMVs since it is a hobby of mine, but at the same time, I don't quit playing video games b/c I can't beat some boss in a video game. IT'S A HOBBY! If you aren't having fun...quit.
Note: By no means does this mean I don't enjoy others liking my videos. However, by the same token, I don't define that as me being a successful AMV creator. I view a video as successful if I had fun doing it and I like it myself and since I have fun with all my videos (or I'd stop it), I'd say I'm having a "successful" career.
Sidenote: I don't really know you Roz, but I have found your posts fairly well-written and well-thought. It also helps me out .
We have to take what "visions"and talent we have and make do with them. I think each of us has something "special" to give to the community regardless of the "quality." I mean there are some (IMO) ungood videos out there, but they are special to the creators and I respect that. I may not enjoy it, but I can't argue with their happiness and vision. They wanted to do it this way. It just so happens Jay's vision is a beautiful one that a lot of us seem to enjoy it. I know everyone wants this, but it's statistically impossible. I hate to say it, but not all of us have that amount of creativity. Perhaps we were given gifts in other areas. AMVs aren't exactly the only thing to life. Perhaps some of you are great painters, poets, writers, etc.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but there's a lot that I needed to reply to.

Oh THANK YOU!!! I've been saying/thinking this the entire time. I am 100% down with what you are saying. I hate to break it to you, but most of us don't make videos for you...we make them for ourselves. I am like Koop and Roz in that I see a vision in my head (after hearing a song) and I want to see if I can "create it." I have fun doing it, enjoy the results and then if others like it...an added bonus. The key points here are that we A) have fun and B) do it for ourselves.rozard wrote:I don't make videos to explode people's heads. I make my videos because I have an idea, and I want to project that idea into a tangable form. It's just like if someone writes a song or paints a picture. I hope that people like them, and I would enjoy receiving awards for them, but that's not the reason I make AMVs.

Yeah this something that people need to come to grips with. I know it's mean, but people have their own level of inherent talent and creativity. Jay "sees" things differently just as you saw something different in your own videos. I'm sure Jay wouldn't have thought of the same idea for some of your videos or done them the same way..you know why? Because he's not you.flint_the_dwarf wrote:Honestly now, what makes you a "peon"? I can tell you with absolute surety that Koop makes vids for the same reason you mentioned right there. He had a vision in his head that he wanted to make more real. He simply had more knowledge about how to make his vision prettier.
There really are no l33t. None whatsoever. Sure, we give people like AD and now Koop a big character with mega l33t editing powers... but they aren't so different from anyone else. I'm sure Koop didn't want people to see this and suddenly say, "Oh man, my vision sucks now. I'm going to run away with my tail between my legs."

Thanks! I strive to be as clear as possible in what I say. That way, I get my point across to the fullest andy there is less of a chance of someone misunderstanding me.dwchang wrote:Sidenote: I don't really know you Roz, but I have found your posts fairly well-written and well-thought. Well for me it's the fact that you're A) presenting an argument in a logical fashion B) not flaming and C) saying things that I feel need to be said.Rozard wrote:Thanks! For A) and B) I think A LOT of people need to learn this. I hate to say it, but based on how a response is written, I tend to be more convinced when the answers are presented in a logical fashion and respectful. I applaud you since it's something I encourage and am glad to see .
Speaking of coming out of the closet, shouldn't you and Phreak come out about your love children? [/quote]koopsikeva wrote:Nooo!!
