Otakon amv - Versailles Paradise
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=38283
This is the Rose of Versailles (aka Lady Oscar) video that played in the Drama category in the Otakon AMV contest. (There was another RoV video in Action )
It's an intentionally 'retro' video with both music and anime source from the 1970's. If you sprayed Ubik on it, this amv would turn into Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise set to Utena.
I'm very glad that it made it to the finals so a lot of people got to see it. If you are into shoujo then by all means check it out since RoV is kind of the Mother of All Shoujo.

This video was certainly one of the surprise gems. I hadn't seen the show or known about the video prior, but was impressed nonetheless. Good job!

Glad you liked it! Yeah, almost nobody has seen the show because not only is it not licensed, but the fansub was only completed recently, and the R2's are not only expensive but they came out only a couple of years ago and then went out of print!
I tried to make kind of an overview/trailer type video to introduce the show but I didn't touch on half the main characters or themes such as the romantic triangles. I did do a little baby clip of Oscar and Andre in part 4 of AniMix, though.

Just Magnificent
I just don't know what to say. BIG WOW. I have seen Lady Oscar (Versailes no Bara) for the first time when i was only 5 years old. Then watched it again and again for about another 7 - 8 times. It is one of the greatest anime series ever, which fortunatly is aired very frequently here on TV.
I must say the music fit the anime terribly well. I showed the AMV to my mum and she was about to faint Lol. She's a great fan of Oscar and Andre' if you get my drift
I also appriciated the few seconds of it in Animix part 4. It's great that classic anime which aren't so popular now'a'days are still used for AMVs.
Great job once again, and I wish you best of luck for the upcoming contests. U'll have great moral support from our side

I remember liking this vid alot when I saw it. It was one of those vids that had me sweating in the Drama category. Ok just about all of them did that... the competition was fierce. I pretty much had given up all chances of winning after Aluminum studios vid showed though. Figures, it didn't even make the top 3. Never know with audience voting I guess.
Anyway good vid. Definately a keeper. and I finally know where Gangstas Paradise originally came from ;p
