naruto AMV. it's my first. critasize please(might like it)

Post by onikyo » Wed Aug 04, 2004 2:10 am

I spent 3 weeks making this video one year ago, this is the first time I put it out for anyone to see. I used fan subs with adobie premiere 6.5.
because I could not afford dvds. and for the first video, I didn't think it would be a good idea. so please critasize my work. everyone that has seen it so far has told me that it was good. but I really want to know what I could have done better so that more people will like it, other than the subs. I know that's anoying. so tell me what I did wrong.
And please have fun critasizing my work.

well action sync is definately NOT your weakness
for a first video, and even for a not-first video, i thought that had pretty damn good action sync to it

the song i thought would have been a problem because from what i'd seen, people didn't really use all the energy the song had to give, but i think you did a good job using the adrenaline of the music, lol, i love that clip you used twice in the beginning of Naruto screaming to go with the song, i thought it was hilarious because the video is basically centered on Sasuke and then you just threw Naruto in there to yell for those 2 parts and i love how it zooms into his screaming mouth before you ended those scenes :P

i will complain however that you dwelled on scenes for too long
i almost didn't complain because this is purely an Action video, so there didn't need to be anything deep in it, but still, if you had done more jumping around in scenes, the chaoticness probably would have helped. the problem was that after a while, i got used to watching a scene, and it was almost like just watching the episode with really kick-ass background musik

actually, the only part i can remember that wasn't really well matched to the adrenaline was the last segment with Sasuke awakening with his Cursed Seal activated, him simply standing up didn't do it for me i guess

but the way you started or continued action during the whole forest scene was awesome, from the beginning where you had Sasuke simply lift his head yelling 'I!' it was kickass really... except for the dragged on scenes that made it an episode with kule musik

in case i haven't ranted about it enough, the only thing i really didn't like is that you stayed on scenes for too long, usually, action videos do a little more jumping around, but it's probably best the way you have it in order to match the mood of the musik at the time, but still... the scenes dragged
and you can ALWAYS improve action sync even more, make me FEEL the action, FEEEEL IIIIIT!!!!...i'm done

Well I didn't enjoy the song or the subtitles, but the editing and directing itself was done quite well.

It's really hard to "get into" an AMV for me if their are subtitles. I know it's very hard to edit around them (frustrating too!), but it really does wonders for your viewers. I would also pick a catchier song and use a little more clips, it seemed some were fairly long and I was craving a bit more variety.

But good work, you have the right ideas for sure.

also, don't use special effects unless they're there for a reason

weird transitions and visual effects just seem amateurish if they don't serve a purpose of some sort
