  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

my new AMV

Post by Clowd » Sun Mar 06, 2005 2:30 pm

Hi, I'm Clowd, one of two AMV creators of a new group called MindFall Studios. We're a low-budget group (the server for our website, which is coming soon, hopefully, is free, as was our video editing software.)

Well, this is my first true AMV here, and most likely going to be the first true Mindfall Studios AMV. I personally like it (who doesn't like their own creation?), the others at mindfall like it, and now I would like the public's opinion of it.

The AMV is called "Wishing for RahXephon", I used the RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio movie, along with the song "Nemo" by Nightwish. My attempt was to capture the feeling of sadness and desperateness with Ayato and Haruka, I hope I did a good job. I also chose the song because the feeling and mood of it fits well into the general feeling of the movie.

Well, I await your opinion on it, thanks in advance. Also, the timing becomes slightly off at some of the end parts of the AMV. I'm thinking about fixing that, but putting the fixed version up on the Mindfall Website once it is ready.

oh, and Thank you in advance for your comments on it, both good and bad. just.... don't flame me, I'm new here, and I am going to try and improve upon my faults for whatever my next AMV project happens to be.

Hey,

Bumping threads are not recommend, as they tend to give special [not in a good way] attention to the thread and piss people off.

With that said, I will check out your AMV. :)

That was exceptionally well for a first AMV. [Xenosaga music video excluded]

I liked it. It was pretty decent.

The synchage was actually really good in parts throughout the AMV, that I have enjoyed. The impact felt strong in the video, such as 4:02-4:39 and at other parts, felt that there should have been more impact, seeing as the video contains some heavy guitar riffs and uprising fast tempos.
The video quality was not good.
The video concept seemed to be focused upon Ayato and Haruka as you explained, but as the video progressed further, it gave me more a overall impression of RahXephon itself, wrapped in the concept.
The video was pretty long, 4:39, but surprisingly went by without any huge Oh-I'm-so-bored-someone-shoot-me problem. That is a big plus.

I think you can improve upon more solid editing, and giving more impact, that flow well with the music. And of course, improving visual quality.

It was alright. Melikes.

Good job!

AMVFreak, thank you very much for saying all of this. I will try to improve upon the timing and making the flow with the music better. The quality problem, I think, was a result of the high compression format I used for it, I guess I'm gunna hafta find something that'll preserver the quality better. The resolution is only 320x240, so fullscreening it will definatly lead to a low quality.

The concept of it, I feel, was what I was aiming for overall.

Again, I thank you for the honest critique. For my next AMV project (whatever it is) I'll be sure to try my best to improve upon the mistakes of this one. Also, my friend who watched portions of it as I made it, sorta inspired me to make the AMV end with a "bang".

What you have said has made me feel more confident of my skills as a new AMV creator, and I can only hope that my next AMV is much better than this one. Thank you for showing me what direction to take.

perhaps when the mindfall studios website is up I'll post a revised version of this AMV with increased quality and better timing at some parts of it, but that's only a maybe right now.

One last thing, I'm glad that you at least enjoyed it.
