I've found out there's a lot more to making AMVs than I had previously thought since finding this site. And I want to make a great one so off I go to read the many pages on AMV creation!

*runs back screaming* my brain hurts! Maybe I just need some sleep...

Hey, I made an amv with ff7,8,9,x and alot more anime like samurai x, gundam wing etc but it didnt get much reviews. That was also my first amv, which i did in windows movie maker. So some advice to you is dont get your hopes up thinking you'll get a opinion today or tmr. You can go in the opinion exchange forum and ask ppl to review your vid & in exchange you review theirs.

if you;re interested my vid :http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=61928

Well thanks for the advice but if you took the time to post this, could you not have given an op instead? It just makes me sad because I know I am capable of making really good vids, all I need is a little technical help and constructive criticism.

It's kind of interesting how new people are shunted aside as wannabes or something. We are all beginners at some point and there is only so much you can learn on your own. Not only that, but there are a lot of different (sometimes conflicting) sources and it gets really confusing... So who better to ask than the people who have the most experience and skill? Yeah I wish there was some kind soul out there that wasn't all egotistical and wouldn't mind helping someone out, but I realize there are very few people out there who give a damn.

Ok me done ranting. :P Aside from that, I really do appreciate all the people who have taken the time to look at my video at all. Thanks. :)

Its usually a "noobs" attitude that turn people off. If they cant spell thats usually a sign that they dont care enough to correct themselves or even try. So helping someone you cant even understand is pretty pointless.

Patience is key, we get tired of everyone expecting an op in 2 minuites time. But because im feeling courteous, ill download it and tell you what i think. My knowledge isnt very expansive yet, but ive been here for more than 2 years and should be able to help somewhat, in terms of editing. All this technical mumbo jumbo drives me bonkers.

Ok, i just watched it.

It's a standard sappy romance video which i really dont have place much intrest in. It's been done a million times before, so next time you make a video, i suggest better material, we really dont need to see the same thing over and over. As far as editing goes, it's not extraordinarily bad. It has its moments but it could definintely use some work. Ive never edited with video game footage so i dont know how hard it is. The lyrics didnt really match what was going on, though i dont know if you intended it to do just that, or if you just wanted to show how much she loved him, blah blah. I did like the beggining a bit, it was pretty neat how the camera panned around with the guitar in sync. The video does drag on like crazy, It's not very wise to have the same scene play for a long time, it tends to make the viewer lose intrest. some of the timing was decent, there just should have been more of it.

If it seems harsh then it probably is. After all this is your first video, and every video needs constructive criticism, no matter what number video it is, nor how good. If thats not the case then the creator wont get anywhere. I do see that you had a slight clue of what you were doing. If you were to spend alot more time on a video, It could simply blow this one out of the water.

I hope i helped at all. And good luck in the future.

Ok to me that is funny because I consider myself a very good speller. Are you just looking for something to bash me on? I mean, it was one word and I spelled it like that on purpose. It's slang. Noob sounds cooler. If you can't understand me, then I think you need more help than I do.

I will defend myself if necessary. Take it as attitude if you want. I'm just really sick of this shit on these boards where everybody nitpicks everyone else for every little thing. Nobody's perfect and there's no point in being mean just for the sake of being mean. If you have issues, take your anger out elsewhere. You shouldn't be concerned about my spelling anyway because I could point out at least 14 grammar/spelling mistakes in your post. But I won't.

I didn't expect an op that fast. I waited a few days. Sorry if I don't know the standard waiting time but it's not like I'm complaining. At least not about my video. If anything, I was complaining about the way noobs are treated here. Yes, they can be ignorant a lot of the time but insults are not necessary (maybe it's tension from all that concentration put into video-making).

Ok now that I've gotten you all pissed off at me, time for the good part!

I appreciate you taking the time to actually critique it. I know my video is not very unique, but it's pretty hard to make such an overused anime stand out. And hey, some people like sappy. At the time I wasn't really looking to create an original piece of art, it was more like a tribute to what I think is the best game ever made.

The lyrics weren't meant to match, although there is one part where Squall crashes into Rinoa while dancing right as the word 'crash' is sung, which I thought was clever (but oh so corny, I know, I know... *blush*). There are also other parts that fit, like the whole being alone thing.

It does drag on a bit doesn't it? That was just my laziness. I kind of want to redo it but I want to make it look better and I'm having problems with the footage compression and such. I don't know if anyone could help me with that or not.

I'm actually very flattered you said that because I made this after seeing like, 6 AMVs total. AtomX has the priveledge of being the very first person I ever saw an AMV by! :D Now I have a crush... Hehe j/k. He is a god though.

Thanks, your responses definitely helped! And again, I don't want to be negative or offend anyone, but I will defend myself and/or retaliate. I'm usually a good bunny though. ^_^

bluey11: Thank-you! But are you sure you gave me an op? I checked and there isn't any...

JSRoss: I don't know where you got the idea that newbies could help newbies so I doubt I could teach you much since I hardly know anything myself. There are a lot of helpful links on this site about AMV creation though, especially in the forums. Try this link, it has a lot of good info: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... php?t=2163
