A Naruto MV... with me rapping!!!
First thing's first...

Description...
Thank you for your interest in my music video! I hope you decide to download and watch it. By the title of this thread, you might think I'm some little kid trying to rap... and well... that was the point! =P Hehe, but I was just trying to get your attention (even though it's true, this IS a hip hop song that I wrote and recorded). So in all seriousness, I hope you enjoy this amv.
Some "quick" facts about this video:
- I wrote the music for this amv. Primarily, my creative endeavors lie in music composition and lyricism. I specialize in hip hop, and actually, a lot of my musical inspiration comes from anime. If you listen to some of my tracks, you'll notice a feeling very similar to Kenshin =P, one of the first series I fell in love with. In this particular song, "So Long", I actually used a piano sample from Naruto, which is part of the reason why I decided to make this amv... to pay tribute to this wonderful anime!
- The lyrics were written by me and my partner, Theresa Vu. Together, we are a guy/girl hip hop duo called MAGNETIC NORTH. Remember that. =) And after being together for 3 years, we released our debut album in March 2006. The CD includes "So Long", so if you like what you hear, please check out our website: http://www.magnetichiphop.com
- This is the first amv I've ever done using my own music. I have to say, it was really REALLY fun. I feel very attached to this video because of it, so I hope you all like it! If not, I will be heartbroken =P. Hehe. Anyhow, it was cool working with my own music because I know the lyrics inside and out, and since I wrote the beat, I feel like I have a very close connection to how the music and rhythm should be portrayed (at least my vision of it). In fact, I was very nervous making this video, because I had fears it wouldn't live up to what I was striving for.
- I hope this amv makes you cry! Or at least, close to crying! Especially if you've watched/read the series. I think for those that haven't seen it, you will be confused. But for those that have, I hope you appreciate my efforts.
Anyhow, enough with my random thoughts. Please enjoy the amv, and please visit our website if you are feeling the music =). Once again, it's: http://www.magnetichiphop.com
Peace!
PS: Who said hip hop can't be in 3/4 time!? Hehe.

Wow, this is brilliant stuff right there.
1. I went to your website after watching the video, pretty nice really. It's just that I don't really want to pay shipping to Germany even if it was possible so I won't be able to buy your CD.
2. I enjoyed the song a lot, and the fact that you used a direct anime sample for the beat makes it even more interesting.
3. As on the video itself even though the video quality isn't too good I thought it was great. Your editing has got some flaws in it but it's still constant enough to make a good impression on the viewer. I especially liked your scene selection because this must be one of the only Naruto AMVs I've seen that covers about every dramatic scene in the entire series up until episode 136.
Yet on the crying factor I gotta disappoint you, I may be into rap but this song/anime mix works more like the 2pac classics with those kind of lyrics. So it gets you more into a sentimental feeling but that should be something good too, right? I really like the idea of promoting your own music over AMVs because that's something very very rare (especially when it comes to "real" "good" music ;>)

Whoa!?
I hate about 98% of all rap. Why? Cause of what they rap about "cars, girls, guns, bull". This one is of that 2%, the type of 2% that used to have me listening to some of Tupac's music. Basically I loved the song.
The AMV itself was edited well. The words "for the most part" went with the clips chosen. I've seen alot of Naruto AMV's but not too many that were able to potray so many of the relationships of the characters in Naruto in just one vid. With a rap song, sung by yourself, you were able to do this. Amazing dude.
You really, REALLY, need to put the vid on local on this site. I would love to opinion it. Plus you'll be able to recieve comments from other people on their thoughts on the video.

This is a really nice vid, and anyone avoiding it because it's rap (as I did, until reading InGoW's post) should check it out anyway. I didn't have a clue what was going on most of the time, having never seen half of those characters before, but I found it moving anyway (my favourite scenes being the young Gaara ones). Good job, and definitely something different.
Seconding the Local suggestion, and also suggesting that you re-encode a higher-quality copy to deal with those blocks. They're not all that distracting, but I think clean video would add a lot to the vid.

First off, I like your vid and like InGoW said the fact that you used a direct anime sample for the beat makes the song even more interesting and fitting to Naruto. Another thing I went to your site and I liked Unda Control nice work with your vid and your rhymes.

Like some others have pointed out, the video quality wasn't the greatest, but the editing itself helped me to see past it. Honestly, what held my attention throughout the video was the song, I was really into it. I also checked out your website, and the stuff you're doing is really cool. Best of luck to you and your group.

Hey all! Wow, thanks so much for your thoughts and comments. You don't know how nervous I was last night when I posted it up. As you can see, this is the first video I've ever shown on this website/forum so I'm glad so far all of you have been into the amv, and especially the song!
InGoW: Thanks for your in-depth description on what you thought worked and didn't work. You definitely seem to know what you're talking about and I appreciate your honesty. =) Oh, and just so you know, if you actually do want to buy a CD, I've shipped the album to Europe before. Shipping is only $4 so if you have paypal, you can just add $4 instead of $2.
Rurounikeitaro: Well I took your suggestion and uploaded the video locally to AnimeMusicVideos.org. I will wait anxiously for your "opinion", even though what you said already meant a lot to me. Thanks!
Melanchthon: Haha, yeah, I wasn't sure if the "rapping" bit would attract more people to check it out, or turn them off. Hopefully, others will give it a chance too =P. And about the video-encoding quality, well... unfortunately, how I went about doing it is I had trouble working with the original DIVX files in Vegas, so I was told I should convert the files to a different format (uncompressed AVIs). Problem is, I didn't have enough HD space for it, cuz as you can see, the amv spans 135 episodes or so. Anyhow, so I exported only the segments of each episode that I wanted to use into MPEG2 and used those as my source files for the amv. In other words, there is no going back for me to make it higher quality. =/
dnk: Hey, thanks for checking out the site! I'm glad you're feeling "Unda Control". That was one of the first songs that my partner and I wrote together. Most people like "Drift Away" the most, so it's cool that you have a different preference!
TheUnlimited: Thanks!
Purge: Haha, crazy! Yeah, I have some of my older amvs (amongst other things) on directdk.com . It's still there even now, but totally outdated. Were you searching for amvs online, is that how you stumbled upon it?
Strider_Black: Much appreciated. And I plan to =).
Reigna: Again, many thanks. And it means a lot that you checked out the hip hop site too. Such supportive people on this forum!!!
So yah, as suggested, the amv is now uploaded locally on this server, so please leave comments/ratings on there if you have time. This is so exciting =P.
