Whispers From A Dying World
Title : Whispers From A Dying World
Category : Drama, Serious
Anime : Wonderful Days
Song : Emiliana Torrini - Gollum's Song
This is my third video overall and my first dramatic video. I put in about 30 hours for this one not counting the pre-production work on the video footage. Once again I cannot host this video locally due to the org's rules, so you'll have to grab it from megaupload. All feedback is appreciated.

I have to wait 43 seconds, because of megaupload! lame Why not upload it to the org?
Edit: I didn't like it too much! I guess it's because I haven't seen the anime yet. You should try to make it more interesting for people who don't know the footage and can't relate it with any emotions. I was completely bored the whole time, because there was almost no sync at all and the scenes were too long at some parts. Even though the quality is nice, it was a pain to sit through this.
I hope you take this into considerations the next time you do an amv

This was addressed in the original post, please read the post next time.Nunchuck wrote:I have to wait 43 seconds, because of megaupload! lame Why not upload it to the org?
Forgive me for saying so, but if you think there was "almost no sync at all" in this video, then you either weren't paying attention or you're not very good at sync-ing. This is a slow, downbeat AMV so it's not always obvious, but I carefully synced each transition and most of the movements of the characters in the scenes to the music and lyrics.Nunchuck wrote: I didn't like it too much! If you haven't seen the anime, there's only so much I can do to relate the plot and characters to you in the time I have in the music video. I thought I did a reasonably good job of at least getting the basic parts of the plot across and the reasons behind the emotions for the main characters should be pretty obvious based on the scenes I used.
I'm sorry you didn't like it, but thanks for checking it out anyway.

Well, don't feel offended but I don't think so! The scenes didn't give me a clue of what actually happens in the anime. I don't even know who the main character could be or if there even is one shown in the video! From what I can tell is that some scenes were too long shown! Even if the music is slow that doesn't mean that you can show one part over 9 seconds. I mean that scene at 2:18 where the singer sings "these tears we cryed a falling rain" you just show me some sort of stone where water drops of!??! I can't do anything with that scene and hack it just bores me and kills the flow of the vid completely!I thought I did a reasonably good job of at least getting the basic parts of the plot across and the reasons behind the emotions for the main characters should be pretty obvious based on the scenes I used.

The anime has three main characters, they are the three featured most prominently in the video.Nunchuck wrote: Well, don't feel offended but I don't think so! You don't see how rain dripping relates to "these tears we cry are falling rain"? I'm sorry that doesn't "do anything" for you, but it happens to relate to the lyrics and the mood of the video perfectly.
Yes, a few of the clips in the video are long, but this was done selectively and purposely and I don't think it breaks the flow of the video at all. This is not an upbeat dramatic video, it is a downbeat dramatic video and the song is sung very slowly. Using too many clips, doing too many transitions, and trying to force scenes where they don't match the lyrics or mood is what would break the flow.

I quite enjoyed this - the pacing seemed fine to me, although I feel I was mainly won over by the eye-candy anime.
I'm not sure about the lyric sync, it seemed a bit cheesy because it was so literal. <strike>Also, it's probably just me, but the audio quality seemed rather low, although i've been having problems with my computer in that regard, so... fwiw.</strike>
Bearded ladies ftw.
edit: my soundcard sucks

Well I only synced the lyrics directly in certain spots where I thought it was appropriate. In most of the scenes the lyrics and scene are only linked loosely, while trying to maintain the mood of the song and video. That was the most important aspect to sync and I think I did it well.
I'll admit that it's a bit emo, but I wouldn't call it cheesy. And since this is a downbeat drama video emo is sort of what you're going for. If I didn't have the scenes to go with at least half the lyrics, I wouldn't have bothered to make the video. Then it just would've been a pile of scenes to a random song with little to no point, which the org already has no lack of.
If you're referring to Jay (the main female character in the film) that's not hair, it's part of her uniform. Think of it as a racing stripe from her chin to her bosom.blabbler wrote:Bearded ladies ftw.
