TokiKake drama video - lacks emo music

Post by Choco » Wed Oct 15, 2008 4:50 am

Video: Consequences
Category: Drama
Anime: Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time)
Song: Aeroplane
Artist: Frou Frou
Creator: Choco

I'm not new to making AMVs. I've been doing so for the past, uh... over two and a half years, I think. I started out wanting to make videos similar to the ones I thought were excellent. That meant no fan subtitles, no crap quality, nothing that might even be considered terribad. I haven't made many videos because I believe most of the ideas I have fall under the quality level I have set for myself. This one made the cut, no problem.

So this video is from a great anime movie paired to a great song. It was made using Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0, VirtualDub, Media Player Classic, AutoGK, and Windows Explorer (oh thank god for file explorers). I worked with a DivX source, converted everything into uncompressed AVI, and reencoded with minimal quality loss to XviD with MP3 audio.

I recently submitted four videos to AMV Hell Divided By 0 which were all accepted, so I thought I might as well advertise and thrust this video (and soon a collection of my old ones) upon the public to see if they agree my videos are qualified enough. That public is you, and I am grateful for any critique, good or bad, you may have for me.

The video has been successfully uploaded to animemusicvideos.org. There's an indirect link to Mediafire if you prefer. For all you under-achievers, here's a HQ YouTube (Also known as YYOOUU TTUUBBEE hurrr) link: http://tinyurl.com/3po5sw

Your vid kept crashing my KMPlayer for some odd reason. lol

Overall I liked the vid, but not enough to keep it. For a couple of reasons.

I mean, I liked the simplicity of it at first, but some parts seemed too simple and needed more edits.

Towards the middle it got a little repetitive and seemed to drag a little, too.

3/5

I essentially feel the same.

I liked the simplistic nature at first, but Frou Frou has a very complex structure, and I don't think you adequately dealt with that for the most part. There are a few parts, like just after the two minute mark I thought was particularly excellent. The ending also was nice. I do think due to the complex nature of the underlying harmonies, you could have been much more technical. Adding shake would have done wonders, I think. The structure of the song is pretty jarring, and the video didn't follow that.
