New HypeOdermic Studios Video - "Black Sabbath"
My 17th video. This video is a tribute to the song that started the genre. Its a horror video that isn't scary, much like the song.
I wanted this video to look and feel like it could have made 10 years ago. Its very basic, very slow, very old school. I wanted it to feel like you found the video in some dusty old cupboard that you didn't know existed in your attic or something.
The audio for the video was ripped from the original vinyl. The sound is amazing, and I encoded it at 384kbs AC-3 so crank that shit up.
Boogiepop Phantom has a history of being used with very ambitious art projects in the AMV world. Carlos did his famous horror videos with it, and Trythil created his own CGI with it, but I never really saw a classic, meat and potatoes Boogiepop video that I liked. This video is my attempt at that. There is nothing arty about this video, nothing eccentric, and nothing extravagant. It tells its simple story with the bare minimum possible. This video has very little to do with me, the editor, putting my stamp on an otherwise painfully boring anime. It is a tribute to the song, and the visuals are there to serve.
Theres been a lot of talk recently about "making videos for yourself!" and how AMVs are dieing because people found a formula that works and are beating it to death. I made this video for me. I love watching it. The build up to the climax is one of my favorite sequences I've ever done, and came out perfectly. If you are familiar with the song, than you know exactly what to expect. I hope you guys enjoy it.
TECHNICAL NOTE: The video is huge, 162 megs. The video is also very dark and soft. The look of it is very intentional. What you see is what I wanted. Also, the file is encoded with .mp4 so you will probably need Media Player Classic to play it.

Second!!

I will surely definitely be enjoying this.
Edit: It was really creepy as it was inteded to be. Not much you can do with the song but it got a little bit repetitive. You captured the perfect mood and I really couldn't find something bad about this.
8.8/10

Whatcha talking about foo, this is some creepy shit you got there!Beowulf wrote:Its a horror video that isn't scary, much like the song.
Man, that rocked really hard on a lot of levels. While I'm not sure if all the noise and discolouration were totally imperative there, I think they did help to get some of the motion/shaking stuff to work better, and that did a lot of good things there, especially for the way you treated the guitar. I loved the way this video worked with the lead guitar, few videos these days that do such a classic job with that.
This video's got style! And thanks to the good editing (and epic song choice) it feels a lot shorter than its apparently-long running time. I think this should be a shoo-in for Best Horror this year!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

That was fucking great dude. Loved the intense buildup, then at the end shit just went nuts. Loved the effect usage and the editing itself was pretty spot on. Video even creeped me out abit at times. Overall I think you captured the atmosphere of the song perfectly here, I love that you used Black Sabbath too, you don't see enough editors using older artists anymore...
Anyway, in general, amazing video. I recommend this to anyone.

Edit:
Holy crap.
Now this is editing. I agree with Arashinome that the build up was great and intense editing towards the end.
Scene selection was also spot on.
This video gave justice to this song
Great job
