Re: Macross: Angel's Voice
O:
EDIT: Ok, yes, I really dug this. My problems with it can all be attributed to the fact that I haven't seen any Macross, so a lot of it (mainly the buildup) felt really superfluous and didn't connect with me all that much (it also would have helped if there was more movement in some of the scenes). However, that aside, I think that your goal to make "the Macross video to end all Macross videos" was accomplished. I can safely say that after watching that, I don't feel the need to download any other Macross videos, because it just felt like you took an entire universe's timeline and condensed it down to 7:30. And it worked.
Because once the video picked up, man, I couldn't tear my eyes away. The video was just so packed with emotion and intensity, and I can only imagine what a Macross fan would feel when watching this.
And of course technically the video is fantastic. I don't know if I've ever heard of someone editing a song to make it longer, but you did it perfectly and I wouldn't have known if you hadn't explicitly said so in your video description. The video quality is also top-notch, and you did a good job at combining multiple generations' worth of anime without breaking the visual flow. Some of the older animation definitely stood out, but you did a great job at minimizing the ugly.
Overall, fantastic job Scott, and despite my minor complaints this is one of the best videos I've seen in a long, long time. All the work you put into it was absolutely worth it in my opinion.
5/5
EDIT 2: Forgot to mention, this really piqued my interest in Macross, which is saying something as I haven't gotten interested in any anime in a long time. If I ever find the time, I will definitely have to sit down and watch it.

Re: Macross: Angel's Voice
Already told you how I felt during betas. In short, I think there are some minor flaws (more of a scene selection choice), but they don't detract from the video much and I still like it a lot...
...glad to see something positive come out of the Otakon JAM Project concert.
Edit: Oh and I forgot something that I've said to you since you started the video...

Watching this video makes me orgasm like the guy in your poster.
I'm not a big macross fan, but I enjoyed the beta and enjoyed the finish product even more. Maybe amvs don't suck anymore after all.

Re: Macross: Angel's Voice
First I'm going to say congratulations. I saw the time on the video when I opened the file and was like :\ certain that it wouldn't hold my attention (it's rare when a drama/romance video holds my attention for a full three minutes), but you know what? This video held my attention for the entire thing, and it really just flew by (no pun intended). It only felt like a three minute video even with so much packed into it. So yeah, it held my attention the entire way through, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Great, great job. (the only thing I didn't care for, and it's small, was the male lip sync; it was sort of goofy).

Re: Macross: Angel's Voice
Ya know, after watching this, it really makes me wish I had a more "full" grasp on the Macross universe. I've seen all of Macross Plus, Zero, and Frontier, and I watched Robotech when I was really young (so I really only have a loose grasp on that whole storyline). This is very much a sentimental video and could be seen as a love letter to the creators and the characters of that universe. This is the epitome of a "tribute" video. The length didn't even bother me. It all felt very well paced and structured. Overall, I really really enjoyed it and appreciated the love and appreciation that went into it. I do however think that I would probably like it much more if I were as much of a hardcore fan of Macross as you are. So, either way, very well done
