The SilverShine MEP

Post by TwilightChrono » Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:06 pm

Well, this was a MEP organized off of the org. I wasn't the one who organized it though. It was organized by my friend RavenSohma. And we commenced to editing it on and off over the past couple of months. At least since towards the end of December. Anyway, 1 of the editors in here isn't from the org so he is hard to come byb. You can find him on the tube though as WillOfD or WilliamDorf. Check him out if you so desire. Anyway, this MEP may not be for everyone. So please, give it a watch and let us know your thoughts. Footage was cleaned to the best of our abilities and one of which track just looks kinda iffish in quality but it's still legible. Anyway, here's hoping you enjoy it at least a little. It was made in good fun.
I forgot to add one anime into the listing and it won't let me change it for some reason to add it in. Hunter X Hunter is the anime that is not listed as a source in this MEP. So, bear with that small mistake. Anyway. Enjoy.

Track 1:
TwilightChrono

Track 2:
RavenSohma

Track 3:
WilliamDorf

Track 4:
Kazemon15

Intro: Cute idea, but a nicer font/text effect would have done it a little more justice. AS it was, it was just a little sparse for my tastes as an intro.

Track 1:
TwilightChrono
Opinion: As an action video, it was pretty entertaining. I thinkt he end with his face was held out a little TOO long for just one scene, but the rest of it flowed pretty well, and I was kind of grooving to the beat. :D

Track 2:
RavenSohma
Opinion: Wow. When I saw "Action, Sentimental" as the genres, I wasn't sure exactly how that would work out. But dang... This track fit in really well with the rest of the tracks! It was a reprieve from the action, as if to mourn the losses of the previous/other tracks. Interesting effects too, but I wish the blood wash would have faded out in the end instead of just a straight cut out of it.

Track 3:
WilliamDorf
Opinion: The switching between the static standing scenes and the fast paced action with the upbeat song kind of killed the flow for me in my oown opinion. Plus, I was kind of confused by some the anime selections kind of like Spirited Away and the animals [crow/snake] fighting each other. It was just kind of confusing on the overall. It wasn't bad, I just think a little more focus would have. Also, while it wasn't DISTRACTING, the visual quality on this one was just a tad below the rest of the tracks, and it did kind of stand out and I think deserves mention. I think one anime would have also been a better focus than multi-sources.

Track 4:
Kazemon15
Opinion: Great track! It had a great flow and movement to it. I really liked the consistent use of the chain. Definitely my favorite of the project. Had a unique anime, was fun to watch and like TC's, I was really grooving to the beat with this one. I wish the end had been a little less anti-climatic and more "BAM THERE IT IS!" instead of just a fading moon, but its just a small gripe as compared with the rest of it.

Overall, cute project. :D I was actually expecting something totally different, but was pleasantly surprised by something different! :D

4/5

Thanks for the review code. Excellent opinion on this. Tara worked really hard on her track. And even I myself was pleasently surprised at how it came out. She really has been growing as an editor IMO. She said herself she wasn't sure how she would pull it off but I think she did a splendid job. Williamdorf while doesn't edit AMV's too often....from what I have seen is a really good up and coming editor who I think has some major potential. I was surprised by his track as well but was a little dissapointed the quality but I think the track held itself together in the same respects. And yes, Kazemon15 blows our minds yet again.

This was a MEP that was just done in fun without all the hubub and pressure that normally comes with these things. we were pretty relaxed while working on this and as a result I think it came out rather well. Coordinated off the org and made among friends. IT was really fun.

Thanks Code, i was a little sketchy on the end of my track and i don't like the way it ended up fading into Will's at all :/ but overall i really like it, the bleeding picture looked better in my head but thats what i get for trying to mask 3 animes together as a first attempt at real masking. *shrug* I'm glad you liked it overall though^_^ Yeah, i mentioned Will's video quality to him too. considering he was using Hellsing Ultimate clips those should of come out so much clearer then they did.

Twilight and Kaze both did great on their tracks^^ i'd love to work with them both in the future. Will's more of an Abridged editor then an amv maker, but i know he can be good when he puts his mind to it. i'm sure with more practice he'd be good and i can't say anything really for my own editing, so i'll leave that up to the other reviews. as for you Begi, i'm sorry you didn't like the rest of our tracks :/ I wish you'd at least give props to Kaze, that was a great track. well anyway, i'm rambling so.

~Raven, out.

Whoa, released already? XD

Good job overall, everyone! I kinda agree with Code about Track 3, it was good, but some scene choice could have been better.... but this was just for fun, so I really enjoyed it. ^^ I also enjoyed working with all of you.

Btw, Katekyo is spelled wrong. =P

Reborn! <3 ....sorry, got distracted by my fav anime. XDD

I also liked your track alot too, Raven, it was a pleasure working with you. =3 I'd be happy to work with you again, just give me a PM or tell TC. XD

Thanks, Code. =3 <3

The op is a little static, maybe a moving background would work better. However the tracks are discontinuos, only the gothic oriented anime match quite well with the song. The flow sometimes stops in a disturbing way, there's a lack of pan crop and transitions.
Overall 3/5 :)
EDIT: I liked the first and the last track most of all.
Spoiler :
dragonball?! :/ didn't get this
