ANN wrote:During a summer camp, 15 children, 8 males and 7 females, find a grotto by the sea. Deep within they discover working computers and some electronic equipment, and later the owner, a man called Kokopelli. Kokopelli claimed to be a programmer working on a brand new game, in which a large robot has to defend the Earth against fifteen alien invasions. He persuades the children to test the game and sign a contract. All but one of them signs, barely a moment later they mysteriously awaken on the shore believing what happened was just a dream.
This show came out in 2007, and to my knowledge, we've never had a thread for it. I think it may be one of the best dramas I've ever seen, right up there with Evangelion. It really shows a lot into human nature, as each of the character's values are questioned as they approach their destiny.

The only flaw it has is that it was animated by Gonzo.

You already made it so might as well move at this point, but there isn't much meaning in opening topics for older shows imho... the way I see it, these only work when you're discussing ep by ep an ongoing series.
As for the show...

BAD END

Well I liked it. I haven't read the manga yet, so I don't know how it will compare, but I felt that it ended very appropriately. Instead of cheating the system to save his own life and continue the cycle of mass genocide, Ushiro chose to spare his sister and accept the fate that his friends had before him.

I give 9/10.

I watched the first episode a couple of weeks back. I think the first episode was a little bit rushed, but the plot seems interesting enough. I'll continue this one.

The episodic nature works very well for it if you can get past the first episode. The giant robot fights are slow paced and don't last long, but the real meat of the show is not in that but the drive of the pilots to do what they must do. Each gets their own episode of character development before their battle and we get to witness them come to terms with their situation. The flow of the show kept me interested enough to sit down and watch most of it in one sitting, a rarity for me. This is a rare case of character development done right.
