alright this should be way easy. when does InuYasha take place? (i'm looking for the date not the name of the era.)

500 or 5000 years before kagome's time, in which all started on her bday

Approximately 1489 in the Sengoku Jidai of Japan. (That's an educated guess based on when the manga was made to base 500 years behind plus the matter of what is occuring at the times and who they meet and mention that's actually of Japanese history.) 1996 is when the manga is made, and that's the time the story is based on, minus 500 years brings it to 1496, then you have to account that certain didn't do certain things untill 1496 so it had to be behind it, and since Nobunaga (the guy they met with the monkey in one of the begining eps) was so young, i figure it had to be at least 1480-1489. > >

hmm...well the manga said it's from 1482-1558, but your close enough.
