The one thing about this series that surprised me a little was how, say for an example, you are first introduced to Re-l in the first episode. I assumed that she was going to be just another one of those kick-ass-and-take-names chick, (which she is^^) that was somewhat honorable in some perspectives, but it was interesting to discover later on the Re-l could actually be very rude and stuck up most of the time. There were some moments where she came across as a big pain in the ass. I just thought that it was somethin different, I dunno what other people thought, but thats just what I was able to make out for Re-l's character.
I was definitely surprised to find out that (spoiler?) Re-l wasn't even the "real" main character at first. It seemed to be yet another "kick ass girl, looks gorgeous and kicks ass". You know, the standard boy-oriented Anime.

Vincent isn't excatly your typical main character of a serie.

Anyway, I loved the whole thing. It was amazingly detailed through and through. And I loved how the anime constantly refered to mythology, poetry etc etc.

Definitely one of the best Animes I've seen so far, and I started out watching it because I was bored and had nothing to do. With no real expectations to the ANime.

Argh, sorry about replying twice, it's stupid how you can edit your posts some places on this forum but can't on others.

yeah,at first when i was watching the opening credits (which are wonderful by the way),my thought was "why is vincent the first character shown,re-l's the main character." but a few episodes in,i realised he was the main character.

Favorite episode is episode 16,i love it,especialy the absence of music for a good 15 minutes.

Or was everything crystal clear and I just missed something? (wouldn't be surprised)
I think the ending wrapped up the series just fine.
Spoiler :
In the end, Vincent finally comes to terms with who he is. He erases his memory to escape his identity and responsibility. Vincent, like many of the other proxies, thinks the task of resurrecting humanity is futile. Even if they do succeed, they won't be needed after humanity is back on its feet. They can't even live under a blue sky and will eventually die. Second, I believe that Vincent is the Proxy of Death because it is his job to kill all the other Proxies. The sun doesn't kill him so that he can travel from dome to dome to search and destroy the remaining proxies. He doesn't want to do this either.

By going on his journey to Mosque and back, Vincent realizes that there is hope for the world. Soon the world will be reborn and humanity can live outside again. He comes to believe that humanity can be rebuilt and live in the outside world. He also accepts that he is the Proxy of Death. He chooses not to run away anymore and to face reality.

It becomes apparent that the humans can't survive in the dome without a Proxy. The Administrator decides to do nothing and simply waits for a slow death. Raul at least tries to do something, but Daedalus's attempt to reengineer humans fails. Neither Raul, nor the Administrator is willing to give up on the dome. But Vincent makes the decision to tough it out and build a new life for humans in the recovering wasteland. They all wanted humanity to survive. It was just a matter of how and where its future lay.

With Vincent accepting his identity and the new course of humanity set, there would be nothing left to cover in a sequel or an OVA. I would have liked to see a little more finality between Vince and Re-l, but romance wasn't a big part of the series so I didn't expect much there. I just imagine things worked out there.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the Creator doesn't live in a satellite. I'm not sure where that idea came from. I thought that the Creator was literally a god. Who else could create near immortal beings who had enough scientific knowledge to create a fully functional dome, an artificial reproduction system, and autoreivs?

I was wondering if anyone else noticed that at the end of the episode (not sure which one, but it was early) they show the computer screen Daedalus was working on. It had RE-l written on it, but interestingly enough, there was a ghost outline of a letter around the dash so that it read REAl (possibly spelling REAL?).

Yea I thought that was intended to show that RE-L was not yet complete, or "Real". I could be completely wrong though...
I have a question...
Spoiler :
the last person Vincent fights, is that some other version of himself? Who exactly is that?

I'm pretty sure she's called Real in the Japaneese version but Re-l in the International/American version. At least I read something like that somewhere. Perhaps it was the subbing colliding with already written text.

The subtitles I watched had it listed as Rel, then after a while it switched to Real. I think it's supposed to be Real, hence the faded "A" on the monitor.

I just enjoyed the fact that absolutely EVERYTHING was in English other than main characters talking. All the text, characters speaking in the background, everything.
