They were trying to make a point, and an interesting one, and they did well for the most part, my only problem was that it didn't work within the logic of it's own show. Really, why did that punch kill him? It's like they were trying to transcend the intellectual\artistic boundaries of the shonen genre, but they failed because they didn't want to wander too far from the comfort zone of shonen cliches and pacing.
Maybe if they had spent 3 more episodes dealing with that last fight. Still awesome though.

I really didn't like the ending...
The whole fight was just a pure waste of time. Through this ending the anime has just become mediocre. I have hoped for more, but ...oh well, you can't have everything you want

i don't believe theres been a second season confirmed. A set of OVAs would be nice though, you know with some backstory or something. Of course they could've just put backstory episodes in the original broadcast in place of those excalibur ones...
but srsly read the manga because it is godly.

This series had SO MUCH POTENTIAL!
Which was just ruined towards the end. You know there's something wrong with the series when even the characters are saying "WTF?!"
Seriously, the manga is win, but I wish it was more often than once a month.
