Oh dear, I'm lovin' how things are going, but like the first series, I can already smell the hated taint this ending is going to bring to my mouth...

Mai-fanboyism not withstanding...

Spoiler :
Yuuichi has finally remembered, and goes rushing off to try and find Ayu. How on earth does he manage to run around in these freezing temperatures and high winds with no gloves and not have his hands freeze?
Look carefully at that scene, and you'll notice that KyoAni did animate
Spoiler :
marks of frostbite on Yuuichi's hand when he collapses.
I'm gonna say it now:

Jun Kitagawa deserves at least Kaori. Seriously, that guy's saved Yuuichi and co. too many times already. Remember, he
Spoiler :
saved Mai from being expelled, livened Shiori's birthday party, found Ayu's missing item, and is now cleaning up the Nayuki mess that Yuuichi left
. He deserves some credit.

Kitagawa is the loyal Best Friend. Everyone knows that the Best Friend never gets any credit.

Besides, it sets up things for a wicked revenge plot later.

Mai and Sayuri need at least one more appearance before the series ends =/

SECOND TO LAST EPISODE!!! :o

And I have to say, I was pretty much got completely caught off-guard with this episode!
Spoiler :
- The REAL, older, and pretty much hotter version of Makoto makes an appearance, and she's the one who took care of Yuuichi. Pay attention to the little things she had in her house; it's another proof KyoAni really storyboarded this ahead of time!

- Yuuichi really broke down emotionally in Makoto's house.

- Jun invited Kaori to the house in hope she can set Nayuki straight out of her emo depression state.

- The next day, Yuuichi went back outside to return to the "school" he and Ayu used to go to. Ayu finally met him, and she informed him about her final wish. She wanted to wish for Yuuichi to forget about about her, but obviously he rejected that. She then mouthed her final wish to him of which Yuuichi couldn't hear. Ayu then disappeared.

- At that night Yuuichi was sitting at the same bench in which Nayuki finally came to her senses and met up with him. They made a promise to each other to be strong.
Gah, I can't wait for the last episode! :x

FINAL EPISODE!!! :o

But before I do that:

Image

WIN!!!
Spoiler :
The first half was weird, pacing-wise. Seems like everyone is okay thanks to Ayu's use of the last wish! DEUS EX MACHINA, FTW!!!

But the second half was really cool with Ayu's monologues going through the 4 seasons. It's an interesting concept Shiori said about living in somebody's dream though.
Final thoughts: Wow, that was a fun ride while it lasted. I have to say this one of the few anime series that manged to show a complete story with very little plot holes (some that are even negliable). I have to say this was a daring attempt KyoAni made in interweaving all the main girls' storylines together, and I feel they succeeded to a certain degree. In a way, Kanon is a modern-day fairy-tale emphasizing the theme of miracles.

Next time, it's Lucky Star and then CLANNAD! 8-)

I'm smiling from ear to ear with this. More or less, the "major" bits that were hanging loose were closed in their own fashion, maybe a bit too conveniently sometimes, but I don't care. That didn't diminish from the overall satisfaction I got from this series. Now... if only Niwa-kun finishes their Shiori video already and then, hmm... who'll do Ayu?
