If you didn't see that coming from what happened in the first season, then you probably weren't paying attention. On the other hand, we're through the worst of it now (finally). When even Pin is clued in on a misunderstanding it can't hold up too long.

Next week is "Todoke," it's just a matter of getting the "Kimi ni" bit in there.

I basically guarantee that next week ends on a cliffhanger. But it will be a delicious cliffhanger.

^*what I thought in episode 1 of S2 when Kent took notice of Kurumi AND THEN Sawako*

Episode 7 was alright; I mean at least she realizes that she hasn't been clear.
