I caved in and started watching Death Note, now on Episode 7.

Damn, how wrong I was when I thought this is just an over-rated pop-spin detective dealie

The suspense in this series is just awesome. I'm a little annoyed by the 'perfection' (which it isn't really) of all the set-ups sometimes, but this is made up well by the irony and tension.

I'm only a bit iffy as to where this might go. This is a series that may be prone to being ruined by a bad (or should I say overly good?) ending, but I sure as hell will be with it until that ending, however it goes.

NOT reading the manga on this, it's too good as anime to spoil.

Will join the spoiler party in a couple of days! :o
I have heard from a general consensus regarding the Manga, that its a pretty satisfying ending, so I think we will not be too disappointed. (At least I can hope can't I? ) And so far its been following the manga to the letter.

Encouraging.

I'm right now in the process of trying to convert mom to watching this with us :D I think she'll enjoy it too; she got to be a big Monster fan for instance, so this should prove an easy 'sell'!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

There are a lot of those "perfect setups". I call those the "OK, if you say so" scenes - "If I do this and plot this and plan this, after a long, involved chain of events decades in the making that goes exactly as I planned, voila, my scheme is realized!" (or the L version, "if he says this, and we set him up like this, there is a 7% chance of smog over the coast! and also, Kira will be revealed!!")

...and I say "OK, if you say so." :P

It's still entertaining, of course.

if you think about it there were only a few 'perfect setups' where each character had a plan that was carried out to the letter. True each of these setups were insummountably complex and always happened at a critical point in the plot, but that's what made the series even more surreal and impressive to me.

The rest of the time it's still a battle of the brains but it's a bit more improvised than planned; there is still a lot of on the spot thinking that goes on.

Episode 12 was rather......fascinating.
L's reactions after watching another videotape by the second Kira saying that Death Gods do exist was pretty unexpected (though I thought his wails was a little cheesy).

Though I found the episode far more interesting when Misa's shinigami Rem told her that Death Gods can be killed. Rem told her about another shinigami named Jealous who died because he used the Death Note to save another person he loves (the person was supposed to die). And that person was Misa.

And in the end of the episode, Light and Misa were THAT close of meeting each other!

Light and Misa would make pretty babies...

"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)

Refering to angelx03's last post: I haven't seen that far into the TV series, but I've read all of the manga.
However, consider this while watching the series. What if L, and another future character were actually autistic in the author's image of them. This would explain a lot of mannerisms, their susceptibility to immediately believing "Death Gods really do exist", as well as explain why L and the other character are significantly cognitively advanced than most normal humans.

What are YOUR opinions about this?

No, Misa and I will make pretty babies :D

One thing about the show that I love is when they talk about an unknown person and go on and on about it then we find out they "generalization" live across the street. I love that shiz.

that last scene in ep12 didn't happen in the manga (cafe part) =| Probably justthere to raise tension to see the next ep, I think anyway, I honestly don't remember such a coincidence.
