Well, if the licensor can cast a good Kyon and Haruhi, the rest is pretty much smooth sailing. Considering how snarky English actors can be, a good Kyon probably isn't hard to find. Haruhi, on the other hand, is key for me. Since she is the "straight man", you'd need a good voice director and actress to give a proper performance. Especially since she has the biggest mood range to replicate and she essentially sets the mood for the entire series. Kyon's performance is basically a reaction to her, so even though a great deal of what the viewers will hear is Kyon, his delivery is less of a stretch for most actors.Bakadeshi wrote:Actually I ment more the entire project of translating Haruhi.... I emagine this will be quite hard to match up both voices, and the skill of Kyon's Sarcasm in an english version without loosing too much of the show. Kyons sarcasm pretty much MAKES the show afterall....
this will be a challenge for whoever undertakes it without royally screwing it up
OK, a good Mikuru is gonna be hard. Those squeaks and noises she makes are going to be tough for many English actresses to replicate correctly.
Whoever is slated to direct the actors is probably going to have more influence in the dub's success or failure than the voice actors in getting the sound perfect. The "tone" of the performances and getting everyone to mesh correctly is important.
