HOLY ASS-humping monkey that became president!

Itachi was a spy for the leaf!! He was ordered to be a spy to investigate a coup that was in the works! The uchiha were planning a take-over of the leaf!

Senju and Uchiha were the founders of konohagakure! Senju's harashima became the first hokage, the first building block in a tower of jealousy by the Uchiha! The leaf made them the police force to keep them in check and under close watch!

They were destroyed for the well-being of the leaf!!

oh, and btw UCHIHA DID NOT USE THE KYUUBI!! it was all an assumption by the leaf! Because the only one capable of controlling the Kyuubi is an Uchiha, the leaf suspected they were the ones who used the kyuubi to attack the village! When in reality it was just a natural-disaster!
So much more surprise butt-secks is coming!!

It would be so much greater if I hadn't seen this coming!!!

I totally agree, i think he was a key figure in the assassination, i think at the time, Itachi was in the ANBU and i think his name was Danzo, was as you said was leader at the time

I totally agree, the Senju clan have become paranoid of rebellion, and soon caused the near destruction of the uchiha clan. Their suspicions were too strong, and quickly came to fruition.

Looking at it from a different perspective...

What if it was the suspicions that caused the coup? What if it was because the Senju went out of there way to keep the Uchiha in check that caused them to grow malicious?

Itachi was a hippie! A total war-hater. Seeing the third ninja war at the age of four did that to him.

When he found out that the Uchiha were planning a coup, he became a double agent, after he was a spy for the Leaf, his father made him join ANBU to be a spy against the leaf. Itachi was faced with a mission in the end, to kill his entire family. He was forced to go through with it.
After finding Madara and asking for his assistance, they would destroy the clan, leaving only Sasuke, because Itachi couldn't kill his own brother.
Itachi would plead with the third to make sure he didn't tell Sasuke of his clan's evil past. Itachi himself telling Sasuke to run and cling to life, to hate and detest him so that Sasuke would one day come back and kill Itachi.
