Amusing. I thought Kyon was actually a refreshingly intelligent protagonist for a change, at least going by his dry sense of realism, which was a huge reason to keep me in the show. His reactions to everything are absolute gold. I think a good half of the impact of the show consists in his believably un-dramatic reactions to everything (in other words, Kyon is probably more like a real person than any comedy/sci-fi/school-life anime that I've seen).
Ah well. Up to you to miss the goodness, but you needn't blast it. Unless you're firmly convinced that over 90% of people who watched it (going by stats on various sites and the general responses I saw) are stupid and can't choose a good anime to like.
I'd just state my dislikes a bit more objectively if I were you, rather than insulting the intelligence of others.
Not that there's a point.

As for the novels - I mostly brought those up as possible sources for future season(s) of this. I'm yet to read enough of the parts that have not been animated and find out whether the series indeed should be continued - though I think there should be enough content for at least another season. Considering only the equivalent of 2 novels content-wise made it into anime, I think it's fair to assume the other 6 have at least something remotely good in them to be made into anime. Of course I'm keeping my dry skepticism to myself as usual until I actually see the goods up front
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
