Ok...I have no idea what she's on about! It's the best.

Well, she tried so that was a good thing. My mum on the other hand, she'll watch it for a while but then she'll go off doing something else and not even give a comment for the anime that was playing. Typical :roll:

Well, sometimes it's not because Moms or grown ups don't want to take the time to really get into the anime. Sometimes it's because it's hard to try and accept something that's different from their point of view. There are some people who DO like anime.....but anime done by specific artists....like Hayao Miyazaki. Sometimes it's not just "anime", sometimes it's because grown up need to see the point of the entire story. Sort of like us trying to see the point in learning Math. Our teachers keep telling us that we'll need it in the future, but we just take a look at a math problem and we go "Oh great, more work" So, sometimes it's frustrating to know that our parents don't want anything to do with something we think is totally cool. But, at times we got to take a look in their point of view and see why they would think that.

I seriously doubt that it's because the story's are badly written, but because of the lack of obviousness that is present at the beginning of the story.

By the way, to answer your question from a little while ago, Feu Demonio, what i meant by saying that animes are sort of like reflections of what we go through is basically an image of what we are. There are obviously girls that are ditsy, yet underneath it all they might a toatlly different person when facing danger. Althought some of the scenarios that are present in the actual animes differ immensly from our daily lives, but look at this way. It's prossible that we have our problematic family lives, relationships, school and friendships. It doesn't necessarily have to have an evil guy trying to take over the world and you were chosen to fight for peace. That bad guy might be in the form of something we don't see but encounter everyday. Like pollution. It's killing our environment, but are there many people who really give a damn about that??? Not many, but there are those who DO take measures to fight against pollution. And those who fight, are your "Sailor Scouts", "Spirit Detectives", "Mew Mews", you name it. Why I said that it was a reflection, it's cause it is. Not a complete reflection of reality, but the morals, characters and situations represent a class of people and lessons we can find in reality.

Does that answer your question????? ^_^

Whoa....long post.....^^;

Yeah, it makes sense.

It is right in a way...due to the fact that anime creators creates something based on some facts. For example, Yu-Gi-Oh!, when creators were creating that it was said that they researched the history of their games. Of course, it not based on the actual games they play but some bit in it actually is real in history. And, some creators create anime based on things that everyday people go through or what they believe is true even though we don't see it. So yeah, anyway, long story cut short, in a way, it does reflect our way of life, just in a more enjoyable and edictive version.

Based in Real Life

I'm with you guys on this one. My mom still calls anime "cartoons," and scoffs when I tell her about some of the useful things people could learn from watching it. I think she could stand to watch a little herself.

Well, technically speaking, anime are cartoons. It's just that when people say 'cartoons' they often associate the word with 'kiddy show' 'immature' 'unsofisticated' and 'cheap'. Which can be all too true in some cases, but often isn't.

Besides that, trying to introduce someone to a form of entertainment by talking about how much you can learn from it seems, to me, to be going at it from the wrong side. I don't know your mom, but you might want to take a different track if you want to get her to sit down for a show. Talking about the artwork, the story, how fun/dark/irreverent/whatever.

After all, most anime weren't intended to educate, they're intended to entertain. I mean, you can learn a few things from YYH, but who really pays attention? Most people watch the show to see the badguys get beaten to a squishy pulp.

Well, yeah, that is pretty much why I watch (Violent beatings of mean people! Yay!).
Well, that, and to drool over the bishies. Eeeeeeeee....

Don't be ashamed of your attraction to bishies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure everyone here has a soft spot for the bishies in YYH *grins* Anywways, there is a possibility that you can learn something from watching an anime...like Baby and Me, but i can't really think of any relevant information you can learn from watching the show alone. Mst of the time, the actual learning process that you get from watching an anime is when you read the manga, cause that's when you can put the book down and really think about what's going on in the story and what the characters are really going through. But, i do agree with you Shadowninjagirl, that there are parts in the show that you can learn. Like not being a total jerk, don't pick fights with people unless you know that you're capable of pounding them into the dirt and then throw it in their faces or the fact that the world isn't as innocent as peole make it seem nor is it as horrifying as some people would like to think *cough* Sensui *cough*.......for example^^;

Again, we all love the bishies ^^

I know I'm a little late in replying but I have to agree with you . It's a great series , too bad it's only 112 episodes.
I've seen all the episodes, movies and I've read the manga. it's just great

Yeah, it is kinda too bad, but it was also a good place to end. We know the characters lives go one, we just don't know what all happens.

I much prefer that to the Robin Hood book Dad has with the last chapter being on how he died. :cry: I don't like to read that chapter.
