I heard the actual translation for the title is something like "The One Being Sung" which sounds a bit awkward.

Think of it from a non-digisub viewer's point of view...

Some people, myself included, buy anime on impulse just cause of the way the title cover is designed...

Now "The One Being Sung" and "Shadow Warrior Chronicles".

Hmm, from a business perspective, which title when placed into an online search engine will end up with good results?

Or better and more realistically, people who DO buy anime in stores [which is now a rare case from me since I'm Newegg's bitch...

If you look on the shelf, never saw Utawarerumono, would you buy the anime titled "Shadow Warrior Chronicles" or "The One Being Sung"?

Im sorry but shadow warrior chronicles is a horrible renamed title in my opinion, they should've just left it as "Utawarerumono"(look at kannazuki no miko for example). I wonder the dub cast is gonna be like.. especially touka and the twins. XD

You know what? Someone brought up an interesting point that the titles given might have been due to miscommunication. The name change "Shadow Warrior Chronicles" might go with another of ADV's licensed title Shin Angyo Onishi which by the way makes A LOT more sense because it feature a male protagonist that can summon shadow warriors.

The other title in question is "Blade of the Phantom Mask", and you know that fits Utawarerumono rather well..

The main problem I have with Shadow Warrior Chronicles is the fact that it is a very generic title. Not to mention the other reasons people have stated.

Blade of the Phantom Mask sounds appropriate, but The One Being Sung vs. Shadow Warrior Chronicles...

Sadly, it does come down to what sounds cooler to the unknown viewer but I'm almost certain more people will by SWC than TOBS...

Though personally, I like TOBS myself but a more epic title would be on the lines of Lord of the Rings like...

I'm sure that Karura and Hakuoro will have nice babies who go Elfen Lied on your candy ass if you're stupid enough to piss them off, but rule with a gentle hand of justice and kill you using a sword bigger than a mounted spearman and get drunk often...

Wow, very bloody episode for episode 20!

Damn, that Kuuya was all cute and nice, but if you give her a giant mecha, she'll lay waste on you (and not to mention her army of giant mechs who swept their opposing army like it was nothing).

Hmmm, is Kamyu some sort of dark angel vampire of some sort?
