Okay after finishing the movie, I really need to let it out.
I HATE CLANNAD
Just for the sake of getting its family theme across it had to do something so depressing to the point of being a waterfall of tears compared to the end of Makoto's arc in Kanon. AND I REALLY HOPE THAT KyoAni WON'T do the After Story because I could handle the movie because it sucked but the anime tv is good (btw After Story in the movie is about the last 30mins of the movie). Then again I can't imagine a second season for the tv series because the After Story just doesn't fit in with the nature of KyoAni's interpretation of Clannad, its simply not mature enough when you compare it to the movie. Either that or KyoAni realises that Kanon was successful because it had a purely happy ending and Clannad After Story could turn fans off. I mean, conceptually Clannad had a happy ending and ties in very closely with the family theme its been establishing but you know, people like me, don't like when certain things happen, and it'd be WAY too depressing if it happened in the TV series because the movie felt like one big rush especially in terms of the dreams. KyoAni changed the story quite a bit though and I'm not sure how the robot and the girl substitutes for the mannequin in the movie. I'm guessing the movie follows the game more closely.
Anyway, movie sucked but the After Story was pretty damn emotional, even though the very last thing which happened was so predictable even I saw it happening...
... Kanon > Clannad, that is all. (Speaking of which I was very disappointed that Toei went back to its high chin Kanon 2002 character designs for the Clannad movie).

That aside, im really disappointed with the penultimate episode of clannad. This is the first time ive really been disappointed with a show by kyoani because they never failed to deliver before. Neither Nagisa OR Tomoya have gotten sufficient development, and now that theres only one episode left, Fuuko will probably be brushed aside despite everything they've been through with her. We havent even seen the scene of Tomoya's dad hurting his shoulder, which i expected to see long ago. Its a real shame because i think when i think i like the characters better in Clannad rather then Kanon and Air, mostly due to the lack of moe (which im sure others would find to be a negative), but none of them are developed well enough, except Fuuko in all honesty. In Kanon, each character was developed well and Ayu's arc brought them all together, but in Clannad, hardly any of the previous arcs are connected enough with Nagisa's to give us a heckuva ending. As much as i love Fuuko, the series spent so much time on her and just crammed everything else into a jumbled up mess. I mean, in Kanon, the end of the series involved a life or death situation.. in Clannad, Nagisa just cant get over the fact her parents did something good to her and decides to be all emo about it rather then being grateful. I mean, i like Nagisa, definitely more then Ayu or Misuzu.. but this isnt how i expected her to react.
I will always feel like this about Clannad unless Kyoani gets their butt into gear and gives us a second season >=|

Wow man, I'm pretty disappointed you've turned your back on Clannad so fast :/
Honestly, I pretty much x2 everything Chii wrote, it about sums up my opinion.
What more can I say? I know for a fact episode 22 will be good, since I enjoyed the scene so much in the game.
However, the fact that so many parts have been left unexplained and untouched is really getting to me. I'm expecting season 2, and if not, then KyoAni did itself a major kick in the balls by leaving such an epic series hanging.
